We are doing something exciting this coming Saturday, in collaboration with Shaleen Wadhwana, and Chef Bani of MIAM Patisserie! For over 2.5 hours, peppered with snacks and beverages, you will be introduced to mediums of art such as paintings, photography, sculptures, and mixed media ; across three genres of art : abstract, figurative and tribal. You will be lead by art walk curator Shaleen Wadhwana through the lanes of the Lado Sarai Art District. Your evening will begin with the FICA - Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art Reading Room, where the context for your art walk will be set through an interactive engagement with art books. We will then traverse through the narratives of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi artists through three art galleries - Latitude 28, Wonderwall and Exhibit 320. As part of the collaboration between Shaleen Wadhwana and Chef Bani, they tinkered with the idea of art and dessert. Your art walk will end with a quick art-plating session with Chef Bani, at MIAM Patisserie. This session is inspired by the art-work of an artist you will meet on your art walk with Shaleen! We will keep that a secret, till you join us this Saturday! ARTRIOT YOUR WEEKEND. Only 15 participants! This experience is powered by Bedlam and Book My Show and the tickets are availablehere: https://in.bookmyshow.com/events/artriot-with-shal-x-miam/ET00101320

Anushree Fadnavis – Train Dairies John Berger says in his Book Ways of Seeing " A woman must continually watch herself. She is almost continually accompanied by her own image of herself. Whilst she is walking across a room or whilst she is weeping at the death of her father, she can scarcely avoid envisaging herself walking or weeping. From earliest childhood she has been taught and persuaded to survey herself continually. And so she comes to consider the surveyor and the surveyed within her as the two constituent yet always distinct elements of her identity as a woman." This series is her personal work that looks to explore how women behave in a space that has been specifically designed for them. This is a space devoid of men and she can use this space to liberate herself from the male gaze. This series also looks to  explore how humans make themselves comfortable with a space and try to familiarize themselves by making relationships with complete strangers but later end up becoming close friends. #artistsoninstagram #pictureperfect #indianphotography #photographers_of_india #fineartphotography #artgallery #professionalphotographer #photographycraving #photofilm   #photography #photographer #photos #ig_masterpiece #photographylover #photoshoot #artphotography #photographylife

Kannagi Khanna - Leela Leela' is an exploration of the lives of the Transgender community residing in North India. The identity of these men falls outside the stereotypical gender norms and the society they inhabit is plagued with taboos.  To fight that, they have found performance art as a tool to dress up as women at religious events, under the guise of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. My project is an exploration of the interesting relationship that the Transgender community has formed with religion, which allows them to express their true inner selves without facing any form of harassment. #artistsoninstagram #pictureperfect #indianphotography #photographers_of_india #fineartphotography #artgallery #professionalphotographer #photographycraving #photofilm   #photography #photographer #photos #ig_masterpiece #photographylover #photoshoot #artphotography #photographylife

“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. Shatabdi Chakrabarti - Vanishing Art Currently displayed @Wonderwall The ancient practice of tattooing in India. India is known to have the largest number of tattooed tribes, but this permanent art form is disappearing here. Looked upon as an uncivilized and pagan culture, these practices in the tribal spaces have steadily declined with the advent of missionaries and conversion to Christianity. In recent years, Saffronisation has also played a similar role. These indigenous people all across the country have been suppressed, forgotten or been discriminated against for their refusal to discard this so called “primitive” practice which has been termed uncivilised and uncultured when compared to the modern and sophisticated lifestyles in the cities. #artistsoninstagram #pictureperfect #indianphotography #photographers_of_india #fineartphotography #artgallery #professionalphotographer #photographycraving #photofilm   #photography #photographer #photos #ig_masterpiece #photographylover #photoshoot #artphotography #photographylife

Shatabdi Chakrabarti - Vanishing Art The ancient practice of tattooing in India. Traditions  on  skin is an ongoing project to document the tattooed tribes and this ancient culture of India. The tribes that have been featured in this collection are the Baigas from Madhya Pradesh, Ramnamis from Chattisgarh and the Mers from Gujarat. India is known to have the largest number of tattooed tribes, but this permanent art form is disappearing here. Along with all these factors, modernization has also played its part in the decline and disappearance of the traditional tattoos in India. This once important and integral tradition of the country and its people is now a dying art form. And very soon, as the last of these tattooed bodies succumb to mortality, this ancient practice and its bearers will also disappear. #artistsoninstagram #pictureperfect #indianphotography #photographers_of_india #fineartphotography #artgallery #professionalphotographer #photographycraving #photofilm   #photography #photographer #photos #ig_masterpiece #photographylover #photoshoot #artphotography #photographylife
