So we’re in Berlin. Yesterday, after some beautiful contemporary art museums, we made a hard to grasp trip to the former Stasi headquarters. A 50 buildings complex with thousands of offices for the around 7000 full time employees who administrated the control of the around 180.000 unofficial informants in the late 1980ies. These pictures shows the offices of the top chief Mielke who was in charge from day one in 1953 to the very end in 1989. It was turned into a museum in 1990.
