"Aaaaayyyyeeee Betaaaaaa!", she'll scream
I'll pretend to be asleep, practically clueless of anything happening around me
"Aaaaayyyyeeee!!!", she'll shout again and remove my sheet
"Ma, please! Five more minutes na, please!", I'll beg
"Look at the clock! It's already nine! It's not your damn hostel where noon is the morn for you people.", and she'll charge away.
My mother is the most irritating yet the sweetest lady I've ever come across. If I'm at my hostel and by any chance, she comes to know that I am skipping college for the day, then lord save my phone. Call log starts overflowing with her calls and missed calls and if by any chance I'm busy somewhere else and have kept her waiting, she'll be like, "Where the hell were you? Why do you have to keep your phone aside?" and when I'm at home and the moment she sees me with the phone she'll scream, "God knows what will become of you! I'm sure to break that shit one day!". Double standards, eh?
The biggest fear for any mother is whether her child is addicted to alcohol and stuff. Well, in my case my mom knows that I don't do any shit so that's okay. But the second one. "What if my boy has a girlfriend?". Let me tell you how the conversation starts
"Beta! Listen! Ma and Papa have done a lot for you. You're our only son, our only ray of hope. We have a lot of expectations from you. We always want the best for you. Don't do anything stupid over there. I hate that place. People over there are so shrewd and cunning. Be safe and aware and don't worry, we'll find the right girl for you!"
Until the last line, I thought it to be the same boring parental lecture which was used but... I mean... seriously? Who says that? Why would she say that? I'm like, "Ma, please! Now stop!" and I leave the room. Her continuously poking my brain with that shit doesn't bug me much rather than the thought of her believing me having a girlfriend, haunts me. Damn! Even my mother thinks I've got a girlfriend! What the hell am I doing with my life?
Sometimes she can be irritating as hell but at the back of the mind, I do know that it's nothing but concern for my well being? Otherwise who..
