We recently brought in this hair elixir from @sacredwildwood - can be used on dry hair to tame flyaways, or a bit more on wet hair to tame frizz as it dries, OR use a dropper full and massage it into your scalp and let it hang out for as long as you like until you wash it out (should probably wash twice). 🧝‍♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Handcrafted in Wellington County with lots of wild foraged herbs that help to nourish hair while it tones the scalp! 🐴 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The smell is a subtle but great bonus! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #tygertyger #supernatural #supernaturalvariety #varietystore #hair #elixir #wildwood #madeincanada #wildforaged #wildcrafted #wellington #nettle #naturalhaircare

Adventures in Dolmathes making! It’s been years since I’ve taken the the time to make stuffed grape leaves, but I had some leftover rice and a jar of grape leaves I picked from my yard TWO years ago that I decided were ready to be filled. 😁 I mixed the rice with olive oil, garlic, onion, chickpeas, toasted pine nuts, salt & pepper, and a big colander full of herbs from my garden (mint, oregano, lemon balm, dill, parsley, and thyme). Fill each leaf, roll into plump little cigars, then stack in a pot, cover with veggie broth or salted water, cover and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until leaves are tender. Such a fresh and delicious treat! 😋👍 #vegan #veganfood #wildforage #wildforaged #wildfood #herbs #cookingwithherbs #vegancooking #vegansofig #vegansofinstagram #whatveganseat #plantbased #plantbasedfood #plantbasedcooking #veggies

The common mallow is in bloom! Time to essence her 🌸 She says to us, "I help you go with the flow. Just be still and present, and go with the flow. I will help you avoid obstacles by helping you see the way over or around them. I will help you glide effortlessly through life." Mallow flower essence is for those of us who need to step back or break free from activities which are causing us to stress and burn out. Work with this flower essence when our enthusiasm runs away with itself, and we are in danger of becoming exhausted. The leaves and roots are traditionally eaten or made into a tea to help hydrate dry, inflamed mucosal tissues thanks to their mucilaginous properties much like its cousin Marshmallow, which is more commonly used by herbalists today. After essencing the flowers, I plan on harvesting a bit of leaf and root to go in the herbal shampoo I'm making! I'm beside myself excited about all of these things 🤗 #malvaneglecta #commonmallow #floweressences #flowerpower #energyshift #plantspiritmedicine #healing #healingplants #nature #naturallearning #herbalmedicine #herbalist #wildforaged #plantsheal #theplantsthathealyou #gowiththeflow #lettinggo #intheflow #consciousliving #beyondfear #intuitivehealer #plantwhisperer #teadrinkers #tincturetakers #floweressencemakers

Come on let me tell you bout my beeeest friend ✨Shes wild & free, she’s sensitive & soft, she’s calming, relaxes the body & quiets the mind. She’s not always around but the moment you really need her she is, and you realize those other times just felt like you needed her, but never as much as right now. Her medicine comes in many forms. A vision, medicine to the eyes. A scent that lingers and follows you as you walk by. Her vines climbing over every plant on the path as though she’s trying to keep up and make sure you’ve seen that she’s back. She blooms first, and then she offers her sweet fruits to you in hopes that her seeds may be gently spit out & spread in hopes of reaching more with her gifts. A reminder that not all flowers bloom the same. A reminder of the psychedelic, the extra terrestrial worlds that exist beyond ours. Our lady the Passion flower. She is waiting for you to explore her on Monday with me at our free community plant walk @harpethriverstatepark . Info in our highlight “class info”. Come join us at a beautiful and lush piece of protected land on the Harpeth River. In this one park we have woodland, wetland and pasture. A merry joining of native & invasive plants fighting to be seen peaking out above each other. A display to all of these beautiful seasonal superstars showing off their brightest colors & sweetest scents in hopes of being noticed by you. The park right now is an absolute marvel and we hope you’ll enjoy it with us. Our plant walks are always free but we will be taking donations for Friends of the Harpeth, an amazing group that helps pay for seeds, upkeep and so much more that our rangers might otherwise not be able to do. Spreading so much love to these beautiful parts waiting for us to enjoy them. State parks are one of America’s greatest treasures. Hope to see you there 🌱

HOREHOUND Derived from "Horus," the Egyptian God of sky and light, Egyptian priests called this plant the "Seed of Horus" or "Eye of the Star," and ancient Romans esteemed Horehound for its medicinal benefits. Although the US has declared it a noxious weed and banned it from pharmaceutical industry, it is widely used across the world by both the biomedical and alternative medicine industries. Though the whole plant carries healing potential, the dried leaves and flowering tops are most widely used for: • pain and muscle spasm relief without opioids • respiratory health especially asthma and congestion • liver tonic • treating fever and malaria • detoxing from poisoning or dog/snake bites • controlling blood sugar levels • healing wounds, profuse bleeding • reducing digestive distress including heartburn, poor appetite, and intestinal disorders • improves health and flow of bile • mental dullness or distraction Spiritually/Mythologically, it is recognized to: • protect against sorcery when carried in a satchet • release healing vibrations when mixed with ash leaves and place in a bowl of water in a sick person's room _____ Horehound pictured is growing wildly in our back lot and will be dried and used by the people in our household- and shared with any friends who want to play with it. I'm also trying to harvest/save as many seeds as I can this season and these have been added to the list. The plants that grow around you aren't coincidence, they're divinely placed there to help you reach equanimity. They say "when the student is ready, the teacher will come," and in plant medicine, you are the student and your plants are your teachers. WHAT PLANTS GROW LIKE CRAZY WHERE YOU LIVE? Have you considered researching it's medicinal uses? It might be growing rampant to get your attention- maybe this is the sign to take the lesson. One person's weeds are another's medicine. Everything in our universal existence can be used as medicine or poison depending on various factors. _____ #Horehound #MarrubiumVulgare #EyeofHorus #SeedofHorus #EyeoftheStar #BullsBlood #Ayurveda #PlantMedicine #WildForaged #Zone10a #Zone10b

More California Black Walnut Love 💕 ... This is Nocino, a traditional Italian liqueur made since the Middle Ages from the immature black walnut. The yearly ritual in Italy is to make it between the night of June 23 and June 24 because at that time it is believed the walnuts “are impregnated with a dew that is the panacea for all diseases!" ... Not only is it delicious, but it can be used as a digestive to settle the stomach. Which is exactly what Italian monasteries used it for for centuries along with the many other medicinal benefits it offers. ... Another beautiful recipe passed on from @botanicalbusters. Can’t wait till it’s ready! It’s going to be a minute 😩 ... #homemadeliqueur #wildforaged #herbalmedicine #nocino #herbalism #wildharvesting #medicine #homemade #losangeles #acupuncture #acupuncturist #eaglerock #alhambra #glendale #silverlake

☀️NEW BLOG POST! ☀️ I cannot believe we are nearly approaching the Summer Solstice here in the Northern Hemisphere! Midsummer (June 21st) is the peak celebration of the Summer Season and the midway point in the solar cycle. ⠀ ⠀ One of my favorite ways to celebrate the solstice is to create a flower mandala. With all the gorgeous blooms around, taking a moment to relax in the shade and intentionally create an arrangement is a beautiful way to honor the abundance of life and light this season. ⠀ ⠀ Today on my blog, I'm sharing 6 illuminating rituals that help us slow down and connect to nature this Midsummer season. ⠀ ⠀ Click the link in my profile to read about the other beautiful rituals I share. ⠀ ⠀ For my friends in the Southern Hemisphere, you are approaching your Winter Solstice! ❄️ This is also a special time of year for you. These fluffy salt crystals form on the outside of aged and slightly damp fermenting brown kelp. The taste is sweet salty bitter etc. The next step is to roast the seaweed so the sugars candify. It can then be flaked or powdered for condiments or just garnish with whole leaves. Brings the product to another level of flavour #wildforaged #kelp #kombu #seaweed #umami

Hi, I’m Neil, the founder of Wild Kingdom. I started this company because Mother Nature has been my greatest teacher in life. Under her guidance, I’ve learned to forage different life forms from the natural forests and extract their medicinal compounds. Chaga, Reishi, and Turkey Tail mushrooms were the first products I chose to formulate and share because with all three mushrooms, you can build immunity, sustain your health, and balance hormones. I’m super excited for whatever this journey will bring and am hoping that by filling these pages with scientific, fun, and natural content, they will help people lead more fun, happy, healthy lives 🙏🏼 #chaga #reishi #turkeytail

Epic wedding in Mineral King this past weekend! Absolutely loved doing these wild and colorful botanical arrangements and installments. We were able to do a little foraging on site and on the drive up. Adding in some natives alongside our own sustainably grown flowers was such a special treat. Not to mention being able to stay a night at one of my favorite back country spots on earth! Felling very grateful for this opportunity, and congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Alexander! When land meets sea. Last night’s risotto dinner inspired by my farmer’s market visit at Trout Lake yesterday. Deep earthy aromatic wild foraged fresh Morel mushrooms and dried mixed mushrooms by @wildforaged complemented by the ocean smells from the wild harvested sea asparagus, popcorn fucus for surprise umami crunch and dried lobster mushrooms (and yes they smell like lobsters!) from promisedlandfarm. This dish speaks so much to me on so many levels. Cooking from my heart. It also happened to be #WorldOceansDay yesterday.

Lesser Periwinkle (Vinca difformis) This plant immediately caught my attention with its mesmerising inner pentagonal pattern. The Lesser Periwinkle leaves contain 'vincamine' which is a nootropic substance. Vincamine improves blood supply to the brain which is reported to improve mental energy (alertness, memory & concentration) and reduce age related cognitive decline. Bonus info if you're still reading.. Vulnerable truth bomb coming at ya... As small businesses begin to rise & grow & in particular female owned businesses, &even more specifically independently ran, I think we all grow jaded to the words “one woman show”. This is really hard. To navigate all the administrative tax complaints, regulations, good manufacturing practices, communications, suppliers, distributors, how to sell your products to retailers at 1/2 off & still make a living, how to make your products accessible to all & still make a living, how to stabilize & preserve your products, how to make sure they are all natural but don’t melt in the mail or at markets, how to build websites & stay up to date on credit card processors, how to edit photos & videos, how to engage with your community, how to use the internet for marketing & communications & still exist in the real world, how to work from sun up to sun up &still be a person, a mother, a friend, a daughter, a neighbor, a wife, a pet mom, plant mom, squeeze in meals & sleep & showers, how to be patient & kind when people try to rip it all away from you & encapsulate it into one little marketing scheme. How to take criticism and unsolicited advice from strangers, friends, from condesending meanies. Owning a business may see independent but we rely on so many people to make this all happen. From the ups guy that won’t drive up our driveway out of sheer stubbornness, to the supplier who talks down to me everytime we interact, to the retailers who always want more & want to tell me exactly how i should be doing it, to the customers who want to hear all about every single item & ingredient only to walk away without even a thank you. Don’t get me wrong… we have phenomenal retailers, clients, customers & don’t even get me started on how much i love our postal workers & rangers out here. All I’m saying is wow… stuffs tough. People want these “seasonal”, “regional”, “artisanal”, “handmade”, “female owned” products but they don’t want to pay you for your time or even appreciate you sometimes. They just want it in their hands & in their photos. Im not burnt out. Im lit up. Continued in comments 👇👇

Did you know that Natural Killer Cells (NK cells) are an important part of your immune system responsible for inhibiting tumor growth and destroying virally infected cells? One way to support your body’s production of these NK cells and strengthen their activity is by taking Turkey Tail mushrooms. Turkey Tail is the most scientifically studied mushrooms, more so than Chaga and Reishi. Many countries outside of the United States use compounds derived from Turkey Tail mushrooms known as PSK (polysaccharide K) to treat a wide variety of cancers and help patients recover from the negative effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Prior to scientific study, Turkey Tail mushrooms have been a staple in Chinese Medicine for thousands of years, giving it a long history of being an active immune booster and anti-cancer agent. Growing on almost every content worldwide, it seems as though Mother Nature is providing a highly abundant, highly potent, natural medicine. #reishi #chaga #turkeytail #mushrooms

I must tell you, I am having an affair. In stolen moments, I go to the stream, to the forest, to the mossy stones. Intimacy, revelations, connection, divine. I only go when I am asked, and I leave when I must. Foraging is not my reason for venturing to these places. My reason is that I am called there. My soul needs it, and perhaps the places that call me need it too. The ones who fill my basket, they are the physical embodiment of the spiritual and emotional nourishment I have received. Eating them is part of an ongoing act of communion. It is not the goal. Nor is it the end. #nettles #braintanbuckskin #willowbasket #ancestralskills   #ancientskills #earthskills #traditionalskills   #primitiveskills #rewilding #wildforaged #foraging #wildedibles #wildfood #rewild #organicfood #healthyfood #holistichealth #holistichealing #optoutside #wilddiet #localfood #organic #flora #plants #wildfoodlove

Thyme, Thymus vulgaris, this year's wild harvest is so sweetly fragrant. A day spent trekking at 1300 meters, sustainably collecting this Thyme in a wild area of the Pyrenees Mountains in Aragon.
