As the sun sets on another working week, take some time to reflect on what was good this week. I finished up my day job on Thursday (which happened to be valentines day) with a lovely send off from my team. Whilst it was an emotional day for me, I am looking forward to what the future will bring, full of new adventures, seeing more places, meeting fresh faces and getting to know some more cultures. Lunch at the Fleur de Sel, Port-en-Bessin, Normandy. It was divine. A couple of these shots were taken by our 6 year old! The fishing boats were all returning to port and unloading their catches just outside the window. You just cannot get any fresher! Wish I had captured a few more shots of this fab lunch, but we were too busy devouring it! When we were done we went straight down to the scallop shell covered beach to collect fossils and sea glass. Sometimes you find colour in places you weren’t expecting - which makes it all the more special. We were expecting the Normandy city of Rouen to be beautiful - we’d seen Monet’s paintings of the gorgeous cathedral and we knew that there were lots of medieval buildings here. But we hadn’t realised that the half-timbered buildings here would be painted in shades of blue, yellow, orange and pink. A little switch up from the last few posts, but the greenery around France was definitely comparable to the beauty of the cities🍃🌿 This picture was taken right outside Normandy American Cemetery. Seeing the aftermath of D-Day was pretty surreal, truly an experience in its own that could have kept me there for days. There was just so much to see and appreciate. The beauty of this cemetery is unmatched, in my opinion. I won’t be including any pictures of the rows upon rows of the actual cemetery itself, but the precision of how everything was laid out was incredible. Definitely recommend this to anyone as a must-have experience in France!!🌾
