So I like the “idea” of nature and hiking and all that stuff...but in practice, the experience doesn’t always turn out as nostalgic as I imagine.
Near my house, there is this scenic park with acres of meadows and woodlands. I always see people happily disappearing into the dense woods, but now that I think about it, I never see them coming out. Well, today I decided to grab nostalgic pup and explore it for myself. I thought it was a short trail, a loop maybe, and that I’d be in and out in a few minutes.
With nothing but my car key in hand, we venture in. Hours later, we’re still in there...lost, hungry, thirsty, and staring at mounds of poop on the trail — that according to several tracks on the ground could only belong to either bears or horses — both very possible in this area.
7 miles later, we’re back at the car, swearing to never go back in there without a full survival kit.
Anyhow, nostalgic pup got a nice cool bath (and a thorough check for ticks) his fill of water, and a nice treat. As for myself, I’m cooling my feet, ordering pizza, and using it as an excuse to post this neat pizzeria sign from my trip to Venice. A place where getting my steps in and getting lost, was definitely a lot more fun.
Swipe for photos of that deceptive entrance to the woods and my pup shopping for his well-deserved post hike treat.🌳✨
