And the winner is... @alimapure !
My mission, specifically, was to find natural makeup that was free from silicone, dimethicone, and talc. I really didn’t expect it to be as challenging as it was. I mean, there are SO many green beauty brands now! I didn’t realize that there were still a few questionable ingredients in even the products considered “green beauty”.
Dimethicone is a silicone based polymer. EWG lists organ system toxicity as a moderate concern, and another big concern around dimethicone is the environment. Dimethicone is not biodegradable, so after it is washed off, it enters the water supply, potentially affecting the fish and plant life. 💙
Several “green/clean” makeup brands use dimethicone, including the popular Clove + Hallow (who recently released a blog with their stance on dimethicone), Ilia, and Lilah Beauty. I read the C+H blog, and while they make some good points, personally, I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I didn’t switch to green beauty to go 99% of the way there. BUT, these brands are still doing a much better job than all of the drug store and department store brands, so they do make a good option for someone who isn’t concerned with a product being 100% clean. Is anything really 100% clean anyway???...
Well, after a few weeks of research, I found a few brands that met my criteria and tested them out. I found that for me, a powder is the way to go, since they tend to have the lightest coverage and not leave a heavy feeling on my face. Enter Alima Pure. This company has a great reputation for a reason. The ingredients are STELLAR, and the makeup PERFORMS. Above is a pic of my Alima Pure haul from @safeandchic . 💛
I’m no makeup expert, so tell me, do you know/love any other brands that don’t use talc or dimethicone? What is your favorite clean foundation/concealer? 💗
