This is absolutely hilarious to me, and I have to share this with my #family and other #NicholasLanier descendants who follow me.
A couple of months ago, I was
(I won’t say binge-watching, but kind of) searching for videos on #food and #cuisines that our known #British #English #ancestors (or just people of that era) ate, just for the thrill of it.
I saw this #video on #Tudor #cuisine , loved it and immediately showed it to my aunt and said, “I so resonate with this man; he’s like my spirit animal. Definitely living his best life.”
We laughed (I know his entire history and eccentric reputation, don’t worry)—end of (that) story, and I never thought about it again—UNTIL...
Last night, I was researching the #Lanier bloodline on a new level and discovered the following:
1. “The name of Lanier is derived from the ancient #French tongue and means a “Falcon.” So far as written records show, the family is of French descent, and is from the province of Gascony in southern #France ; however, older records show a Tuscany family in northern #Italy of the same name, and several #genealogists claim that the family moved from #Tuscany to #Gascony after the #Crusades. ”
2. Our Lanier great-grandfathers may have directly descended from #KingHenryVIII via one of his many notorious illegitimate flings!
My closest Lanier grandfather was
11 degrees of separation from him.
That was a full-circle moment for me.
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me why I’m always thinking about, planning, arranging, #cooking or hosting actual #feasts and why the food has to be rich... 😂
I am a very unique bird on this earth who is easily amused, and this tickled me purple. Every day is an adventure with me. 😘
