Eartha Mae Keith
A woman that has been ridiculed for a number of choices she made during her lifetime and STILL carried on! She was conceived by rape, her mother never identifying the man. She was born on January 17, 1927 in a small town in South Carolina.
As a young child Ms. Kitt experienced abuse in her household via her aunt after being shipped there. He mother, Annie Mae, sent her there because the man who she was with didn’t like that Eartha was so light in complexion. She then was sent to carry out the rest of her school days in New York City.
Ms. Kitt is known as a singer, actress, dancer, activist, author and songwriter. She started her career as a member of the Katherine Dunham Company and stayed there for 6 years. Because of her several professions she spoke 4 languages but could sing in several.
She also took a stand and vocalized her views, which negatively impacted her career in the United States for a short stint. She advocated for several communities, including the black, women’s and LGBTQ+ communities. Ms. Kitt used her platform to the best of her ability even when some felt she shouldn’t.
Ms. Kitt won several awards for her work in music, movies and television. She also was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. She was a woman who has and still does empower women, mothers and people of color with her talent and grace! She is a TRENDSETTiNGMAMA. #mommyblogger #singleparent #momblogger #momlife #blackherstorymonth #BHM #blackhistorymonth #earthakitt #TRENDSETTiNGMAMA #TSM #gayparents #mommyandaughter #momandchild #mothers #blackwomen #blackmothers #singer #dancer #author #writer #activist
