It’s not easy, but it’s simple. One of my clients said this to me the other day and it really resonated with me. We all know how to get the results we want: exercise and eat right. Right? That’s so much easier said than done though. Not everyone will want to pack every meal for the entire weekend away. Not everyone will check to see where the nearest gym is on vacation. Not everyone will be able to say “no thank you” when asked to indulge in whatever summer party food is available. I’m not gonna lie: It’s hard. It’s REALLY hard. But it’s worth it! Eat according to your meal plan, exercise according to your program. That’s all it takes to get results. Simple, but what it takes to do that isn’t easy. Head back a few posts and you’ll see one on motivation and discipline. Discipline is what’s going to get you through this simple process. Hit the road for a long run today. Ran 5 miles to @hp_crossfit . Knocked out a few bench presses and then ran 5 miles back home. It’s been a while since I’ve done a double digit run and this heat was no joke. I paced my myself conservatively and carried water to be on the safe side. Overall, I’m happy I did it because it proved that I still have it in me to run for longer distances. Very grateful and appreciative of what my body can do. Especially in the wake of the news that a close family member of mine is dealing with a potentially severe health issue. I felt like I was channeling him my entire run. I know lots of you enjoy these and find them useful so I’m going to try to post them more often :) Easing my way into intervals with this workout I did this morning followed by a body burner. Sharing both below! Speed work . 15 min warm-up. . 10 x 1 min at 85-90% with less than a 1:30 min recovery jog for each. . 10 min cool down. DETAILS: . Warm-up -> treadmill on 7.0 - 7.2 . Speed -> treadmill on 9.4 - 9.6 which is about 4:00 min/km IF all the conversion tables I have looked up are right! . Recovery -> treadmill on 6.4 . Cool down -> treadmill on 6.4 Always on 1% incline. POST RUN CIRCUIT: 1. 20 x Squat with bicep curl and shoulder press (5 lbs dumbbells) 2. 10 x (4 plank rows + 4 twisted mountain climbers) 3. 2 x (4 push-ups + 4 in & outs) | 2 x (3 push-ups + 3 in & outs) | 2 x (2 push-ups & 2 in and outs) | 4 x (1 push-up & 1 in and out) Repeat set 2-3 times #workout #workoutroutine #workoutcircuit

I find most members pretentious, the membership fee too high, and classes all sound the same. My mind has been changing, however, as the upscale #gym chain is currently earning an A in innovation with the help of kick-ass instructors and new classes (hi @jabsbygina @amanda_katzz @carpediem10528 and @matthewaaronliotine , to name a few). My fav so far has been Elevate, the #treadmill hiking workout where you BETTA not run (no seriously, because you aren’t allowed to). OK, mom. I was only jogging though! (😶). —— Breakdown: I completely underestimated this 45-minute #workout. Not only was I sweating my ass off, but it was FUN! Intervals ranged from a low speed/low incline walk to a high speed/high incline hustle (as well as threw in a little of everything in between - 3.0-10.0/incline up to 12 at some points). Everything is coached, so paying attention to the instructor is important. As I mentioned, no one is allowed to run, so it was cool to push myself in a walk-only capacity. The best part? Despite the terrains and hills you’ll go through, it’s totally low impact and trust - it’s enough! Pump those arms though, bb - level up! ——- The visuals on the tread throughout class were cool, too. Depending on your speed, you were shopping around town or crushing the beaten path. I mean. I hate nature (even visuals. I know. I’m a bitch), and yet, I was totally into it. Recommended, EQ members! I had the great opportunity to join @lululemonmen and @lululemonsf in an Amazing experience based around versatility and taking on the unknown. The physical elements of this experience tested me (as you can see in my face here)((pure unfiltered agony captured artfully by @felixjr1 )) but the introspective and group discussions still has me looking to my community and within for a positive change. The group of strangers I shared and debated the most intimate corners of my life became friends. Admittedly, on the surface level, I felt I’d have very little in common with this group however I found friendship and inspiration in EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION. I’m excited to implement these lessons and make room for more potential friends. {DO SHORTS MAKE YOU SQUIRM?}⁣ ⁣ Me too. Until yesterday.⁣ ⁣ It’s hot AF in Taipei, the middle of summer and I haven’t been wearing shorts. Why?⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣I’ve always had a hang up about my legs and felt, welp, embarrassed about them being ‘big’.⁣⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣Since gaining weight (to help with my decade-long relationship with HA) only one pair fit me (thank you @lululemontw for your stretchy ways). ⁣ But, sistah, we can keep wishing that things looked different. But wishing doesn’t change anything. We can also wish that we FELT different, more confident. And THAT is something we CAN change – right now.⁣ ⁣ You can take a bet on yourself. What would a more confident short-wearing you do? Wear the damn shorts, right? Do that. Take that one action step and you’ll figure the rest out.⁣👑 ⁣ So, yesterday, I put them on. Yes, there was some initial anxiety, but the alternative is pretty bleak: continue to wish that things were different, keep telling myself that these pins are not worthy of wearing fabric that is just a little shorter than pants?⁣🤷🏻‍♀️ ⁣ Nope.⁣ ⁣ 🎁I decided something different. I decided to own the gifts I was given and 34 years loathing these pins is far too long.⁣ ⁣ 👵🏻I considered what 68-year old me would think, a wiser version of myself. She would tell me the only way I’m truly going to realise my worth is more than this physical vessel is to wear the shorts.⁣ ⁣ As I walked down the street, navigating how to manage my thighs rubbing, I praised the F out of these girls. I reminded myself:⁣ ⁣ 🏋️‍♀️What I was squatting for 3 reps last year I now do for 8 reps.⁣ ⭐️Filling out my shorts more means I’m filling out in life more.⁣ 👑I’m betting on myself and reminding myself of my worth as a human.⁣ 🍎I’m living my values for what health means to me.⁣ ⁣ The summer isn't waiting for us. Souls full of sunshine!☀️ . . Gloomy days make you want to skip a workout and stay home. Some days we really need that rest day! While other days we need that extra push to get moving. Today is a day I need that extra push. I hate how social media portrays relationships. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Up until my relationship with Alex, I always felt insecure. I was the crazy, clingy girlfriend that constantly needed to be reminded of the feelings my boyfriend had for me. I knew it wasn’t normal, but I didn’t know what was.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Since meeting Alex, I’ve been shown that the good guys and happy relationships do excuse. But, I feel like social media comes to tell us that we always need more. That we need the material things together like a fancy trip or date night six days per week. Or that our relationship needs to be on pace with the Joneses which isn’t true. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Social media has made me second guess myself & compare myself to others, and I know I’m not the only one, but I really became aware when I did the same with my relationship. You don’t have to get engaged or move in together because they did after dating for a year. It’s okay if your love language is different than someone else’s and so your significant other expresses that differently. And it’s okay for your relationship to be different than someone else’s. ⁣ ⁣ Oh and PS, the Joneses go through growing pains too and every relationship always has room for growth! As long as you’re kind, support and love each other, it doesn’t matter, just embrace where YOU are at, no one else ❤️

Do hard things 💛✨ . . This is a mantra I’ve used as a daily guide from one of my favorite @soulcycle instructors. It may be a bike that goes nowhere but because of this studio, I’ve found my safe place. I have finally reached a point of self love and acceptance I’ve sought for a really long time. By showing up for workouts I don’t feel like doing, struggling through choreographed movements, and going from back row to front... I can say I’ve done these hard things 💕 . . I am grateful for this body that allows me to push its limits everyday and for a mind that has opened itself up to confidence and bravery when its lived in fear for so long. I am in awe of the impact this @soulcycle has had on my well being and life 🚲 . . Some would say I’ve changed over this past year, and I will tell you yes it’s true. I become more myself everyday because of this safe place (Side note: if you don’t like this version of me who is happy, constantly evolving, coming out of her shell, and fighting for her dreams... then BYE) I’ve found my resilience on and off the bike - if I can achieve this much in such little time, I can’t wait to see what comes next. Hot as hell but I’m not know why?!? My sweaty self is over here celebrating a huge milestone! . Today was my first “real” run since Boston! 93 days ago (yes I am counting)!! I got the go ahead from my PT yesterday to try a 25-30 minute run focusing on my form, not worrying at all about pace. And if my form started to suffer or I felt fatigued then I was to walk 1-2 minutes but only if that happened otherwise I was to just run! I’ve worked so hard, been so patient to get here & it feels so good, even in this heat wave! I know there is still so much work to be done to get my fitness back but I am so happy to say I was pain free today!! And that my friends is something worth celebrating! . And what better day to celebrate then #winewednesday Cheers y’all 🍷 . . . . 25 minute RUN
