Instagram has felt that I did something wrong and has paused @thephillysportsguy account, so for next week I will be showing the countdown on here. Sorry for the inconvenience.
With 45 days remaining until the NFL starts, we are counting down the Birds best to wear the jersey. Its 45 days until football games count, but the real start of the journey is only 3 days away when training camp begins. It will end in Miami in February, but 1st things 1st.
The number 45 is an interesting number. Tom Brookshier wore it for a minute before changing it out. Don Burroughs was a good player in the early 60's. Vaughn Hebron wore it for 2 seasons before winning 2 Super Bowls with Denver and Rick Lovato is a Super Bowl Champion wearing that jersey, but the best to wear this jersey played in many places, but will always be remembered here for 1 reason.
45 Tim Hauck
Tim played on 7 teams throughout his pro football career, and came here in the latter part of his 13 years in the NFL. His Eagle stat line is fairly unimpressive: 48 GP, 132 tackles (4 for a loss), 1 INT, 6 Pass deflections, 1 FF, and 1 FR, but that wasn't what is remembered about Hauck. Tim was the strong safety who put the hit on Michael Irvin in 1999 at the Vet and ended his career. The hit didn't look that ferocious and ultimately, other than it was Michael Irvin, would have gone as just another tackle if it wasn't the last time Irvin would ever play football again. Either way, Tim did it, and he is the best Eagles player to wear number 45. He is currently back with the Eagles and was part of their Super Bowl Championship as their Safety's Coach.
