Sunrise over Sprague Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park. Standing on the far side of the lake, you have a great view of the mountains, and often sunrise can put on quite a show. However, probably my favorite images at this lake have been on this side, looking east at sunrsise. This particular morning I started on the other side, but had no clouds or great light on the peaks, so I walked back around to get ready for the sun to peak out over the horizon.
Also, as a slight confession, I didn't intend to shoot at Sprague Lake this morning. I almost never do. But when I oversleep (meaning I get up at 4am instead of closer to 3am), I can't always get to where I want to go in time. So Sprague Lake, with its quick access and slightly shorter drive, is a worthy consolation prize.
