Anyone remember Kraft Velveeta Shells and Cheese? ’90s kids understand.🙌🏻 Growing up dinners usually came out of a box for me and my family- hamburger helper, shake n’ bake chicken, you name it. Now that I have a passion for creating meals with real ingredients I’ve enjoyed recreating some of my childhood favorites. Nothing is wrong with those boxed foods, especially if its all you can afford, but I love getting creative in the kitchen and seeing what I can whip up with real foods!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ _______________⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Here’s my creamy cashew “cheese” sauce recipe. Keep in mind I’m not trying to claim this is as satisfying as real cheese. I eat dairy regularly and no plant-based alternative can amount to the real thing (no matter how hard you try.😂) ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Cashew sauce~ Soak 1 cup of cashews overnight then drain and add to a blender (I used my @vitamix ) with 1 cup of water, juice from 1/2 a lemon, garlic powder, 1/4 cup nutritional yeast and pink salt. I love this quote. It has more meaning for me right now than ever before as I strive to make many changes in my life during the next half of 2019! I have goals, dreams & aspirations which I have reluctantly had to put on hold whilst other priorities take over for now, but it’s only momentary. Do you review your priorities often? Do you self reflect on where you are at or where you want to go? This is constant for me. As always I’m grateful for the people around me who support me & listen. Change is exciting BUT scary in a way too! In 3 weeks time I move house with my girls. The final door closing on a chapter of my previous life. I can’t wait to physically move.. to embody a physical act actually impacts the mind more than verbalising it. ✨PART 1⁣ ⁣ I’ve been trying to answer this question for a while now as I believe that everyone wants to make changes in at least one area of life or on a certain level. Even if you do not want to make a particular change, constantly growing and evolving also means that you’re changing.⁣ ⁣ ➡️ But why is changing often so difficult? Here are my thoughts & I would love to hear yours!⁣ ⁣ “Let’s face it, changing is inconvenient for any creature unless it is seen as a necessity. To relinquish the old and embrace the new is a big risk.”⁣ ⁣ Changing is often inconvenient because it requires energy - it requires your determination, effort & willpower. It also requires you to let go of the old you, of the identity you have built, of the idea you have in your head about who you are & also how the world looks like. It requires you to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, to step into the unknown which often causes anxiety or fear. It causes those emotions because change is a threat to what we often call ego.⁣ ⁣ Your ego wants you to stay in your comfort zone, it craves certainty. It tries to return to familiar feelings & the familiar state of being whenever you do try to make a change. It tries to protect your old identity.⁣👵 ⁣ Since emotions can be described as energy in motion, your feelings are also influenced by your body. Every time you think a thought, certain chemicals are released in your body which create a familiar feeling in your body and eventually a certain state of being you also become familiar with. This feeling that was first created by a thought, then in turn causes you to think more thoughts of the same kind in order to strengthen the same emotional state. This is why for example obsessively thinking of illnesses might actually make you ill. But luckily it also works the other way around: People have healed themselves forms serious illnesses by changing their way of thinking. Your thoughts truly have the power to change your physical body, your health & your overall life quality.⁣🌱 ⁣ So the way you think, impacts your emotions and your emotions also impact the way you think. Transformation Info YOU GOT THIS👌🏿 ___ A gluten-free diet is not inherently a weight-loss diet. Weight loss is always going to be based on calories eaten vs calories burned. If you eat a lot of high-calorie gluten-free food, it’s no better than eating a lot of high-calorie gluten food. Calories count whether they contain gluten or not.🤷🏿‍♂️ just saying ___ MY APPROACH....I always strongly advise getting tested for celiac disease BEFORE trying a gluten-free diet for any reason ___ Truth is, some people may initially lose weight on a GF diet because they haven’t found lots of GF substitutes for the foods they were eating before, so they might eat less calories overall. This effect goes away once the person starts finding more GF food and starts eating more again. thus the cycle starts over again😔 ____ Go back to my approach then find what suits you better with your lifestyle and your goals😊

Those fives were a challenge, and even a struggle at times. But that was where I started, and that was good. . How did I get to that second picture? Many changes happened. I pushed myself to do the hard things even when I didn’t want to. I stayed consistent with the help of my awesome friends. My husband joined in! . The small changes now, turn into big changes down the road. My choices have effected my family in so many ways, and I am so thankful to have had the support I needed to push past my excuses. . No matter if you mean it as a compliment or as a rude comment, stop trying to tell somebody they should change their weight, size or relationship with food. OKAY SO HERES A PROGRESS PICTURE THAT IM FREAAAAAKING OUT ABOUT! I took this first picture yesterday and was like *meh, im not seeing any progress, I’m just fluffy* BUT I went and compared with this second picture (SWIPE - originally posted June 2nd so they’re 22 days apart) AND HOLY💩 I mean, don’t get me wrong, the changes are definitely small.. but I’m super happy that the food I’m consuming and the lifts I’m fighting through are definitely giving me some hammie&🍑 gains and I am LIVING for that progress! Progress is slow and gradual, but it’s worth it. The off-season is long and hard, your body changes SO much once your show(s) are over 🙈 But keep showing up, keep pushing yourself, and trust the process 💯

often i look back at my recovery and appointments. i remember the ones in which i used to lie and fake my way through to get a discharge date. sometimes mental illness manifests so deep into your behaviours or your actions that it makes the decisions for you. this also includes recovery as a choice. when i look back i realise that it was just an excuse. “i can’t recover as my body won’t let me” or “i can’t recover as my brain won’t let me”. yes it will. you just have to keep on pushing until it occurs. you have to step outside of that comfort zone. you have to strive to go further than you have before. it is easier said than done. i have spent so much time trying to get into real recovery. you have to change. you have to stop acting upon impulses. you have to ask for help although you feel as though you’re a burden. you have to drink that drink despite the tears. i went to starbucks and for the first time in a while i conquered my fear. my favourite drink a caramel frappucino. now i trembled and i cried because my goodness it was hard but it tasted good and that’s all that matters. screw you mental illness. i have spent too much time being more afraid of a banana than i am of dying. you have to recover because what is better? getting through this? or living like this for the rest of your life? it hurts but it’s worth it and the quicker you do it the less time in which it will take. #edwarrior #edrecovery #anarecovery #nourishtoflourish #eatittobeatit #strongnotskinny #anxiety #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthrecovery #edfamily #edrecovery #mentalhealth #boobsnotbones #selflove #beatanorexia #recoveryispossible #recoveryisworthit #prorecovery

You don’t need to juice cleanse, give up carbs or drink cayenne pepper water 🤢 in order to lose weight. Fad diets are not sustainable, and some of them are just a plain bad idea. . To lose weight (fat) you need to be in a calorie deficit (the calories you consume needs to be less than the calories you expend) and if you want to keep the fat off long term you want a diet (i.e. a way of eating) that will work for you long term. . So rather than cutting out entire food groups or doing a cleanse, which will lead to yo-yo dieting, I suggest that you try and eat plenty of veggies and fruits, have a source of lean protein with every meal and have the occasional treat. Life is not life without an occasional pizza or ice cream, but you shouldn’t base your entire diet on it. . If your food choices are nutrient rich, filling and healthy 80% of the time, then you can allow a little 20% of them to be less healthy. I’ve lost 5lbs on Keto in 2 weeks! 🎉 Second picture was 4 weeks after baby. I wish I could tell you that I snapped back after giving birth but I didn’t. It’s been 15 months since having baby and just now I’m finally able to feel better about myself and feel comfortable in my clothes because they were fitting tight! 😬 2018 and the first part of 2019 was probably the most stressful years of my life. With my husband gone on military orders I had to take on a lot with 2 littles, house showings, and moving not to mention the passing of my parents. I was doing so much with little time for myself. So much stress made it so hard to lose the extra weight. Now that life has settled and slowed down 🙌🏼 I’ve found my rhythm on this Keto diet. I’m a newbie and love learning about how my body is working on this diet. And I love it. I love seeing all the Keto transformations. If you’re feeling discouraged about not losing weight or you feel uncomfortable or perhaps you’re in a stressful situation like I was just have faith and know that it’s temporary. Take small steps if you have to. Go at your own pace. And above all don’t give up. ❤️

Some fluffy sunflower butter pancakes for a sad & rainy Tuesday morning🌧 I’ve tried a lot of protein pancake recipes & this is the one I’ve always stuck with. They come out light & fluffy and I add whatever berries, nut butters, and toppings I have in the pantry. Kept it simple with these but sunflower seed butter is my faaaavorite at the moment, if ya haven’t tried it yet WYD??? 🌻 Recipe – I mix 45g @kodiakcakes with 30g protein powder (I use vega vanilla), mix in 1 egg, cinnamon, & almond milk until the batter is smooth but still thick. THE TRICK to getting a good brown on your pancakes is to put the batter into a HOT pan, so heat your pan ahead of time, pour batter, and flip when it starts to bubble & there ya go 🥞🥞🥞

3 miles yesterday and 4 today in crazy hot and humid #OBX 🥵 It’s so hot out here I had sweat dripping down my face and my running shorts were sticking to my legs. It’s been an adjustment but I’m enjoying every minute! I’m treating this week like a cutback week and running only low and slow miles. Time to get back to the sun, sand, and surf! ☀️🏖🌊

Happy Tuesday!! If you saw my stories I talked about having tension headaches for the last week. I was basically down for the count last week post work. I haven’t worked out or really cooked but I’m feeling 100% today. Yesterday I finally had an appetite and made this veggie burger sandwich after seeing @anythingbutramen veggie burger. ~dEATS~ @Dave ’s killerbread multigrain bread @drpraegers California veggie burger @primalkitchenfoods mayo 1/2 mashed avo Pickles, baby spinach, jalapeños . ~Directions~ I followed the cooking instructions for the burger on the box! A meal like this was easy and so satisfying! My body was craving all the veggies and this hit the spot!

Finally at 200kg leg press.. 4th set was a struggle! 3 weeks ago I decided to get out of my comfort zone and join a challenge, I had lost motivation for the gym and was stuck in the same routine. I wanted to push myself and get more confident with weights as much as I love cardio. Happy to say I’m half way and after 3 weeks I’ve lost 4% body fat and gained muscle and my strength has improved.
