Balance is the 🔑 to enjoy your journey.. . . Over the weekend I went to the casino to supporting a good friend of ours at his fight, enjoyed a few drinks after, went out to eat. Then Sunday I went in on IHOP 🤤. And in all honestly I had no regrets. . . The thing is, I love living in the moment. I take time with friends and family seriously because those are moments I won’t get back. Fitness will always be there. You could always get back to where you started. . . That weight gain that fluctuated over the weekend is most likely due to water retention. Don’t be alarmed. Get back on track with hydrating yourself to release those toxins and stick with the motto eat good to feel good. . . I won’t lie, this morning I made so many excuses in my mind to not hit the gym and then I began to remind myself why I’m doing this. I love working on myself. To see my body sculpt into what I desire is dope. Because at the end of the day I’m in CONTROL! . . If you fallen into a plateau, sit down and remind yourself of your goals. Don’t be fooled by mainstream beauty standards and fake fit girls promoting some stupid shit. Thick is good! Curves are beautiful!!! Go to the gym to be healthy, strong, get a sweat in and release endorphins! And make sure you EAT enough! Leg lowers to target the lower abs! . This ab exercise is similar to a lying leg raise. . The stability ball maintains the natural curve of the spine. Dinner tonight is crockpot honey garlic chicken (recipe from @fitfoodiefinds !) served over brown rice and green beans. The chicken turned out sooo yummy and flavorful and was so simple to make! Definitely recommend this recipe 😊 I had the day off work today which was soooo nice, I just relaxed, cleaned and did some meal prep! Ever had a period where life got so in the way you really struggled to take care of yourself? I’ve been living in a period just like that for three weeks now, and you know what? It sucks! .. Well #fitfam #pelotonfam I hit my #10day badge today and it was an awesome day. I did my first ride with @iamicaniwillido and holy f&cking shit balls y'all, her class was everything and then some. Then I did some weight training without any headphones and didn't use that as an excuse. I have been absolutely JONESIN' for this 30 min restorative from my fav yogi @diti22. And of course, national wine day can't pass me by without me celebrating a nice little raise at work. I am struggling with the scale and trying to find balance and not push myself too hard, too fast these days, so I'm listening as hard as I can to my body and what it is telling me it needs. Keep at it folks, it is all within reach over time. What is my training split? Who the fuggg knows 🤪 lol Hypertrophy training is being put on hold, and for now I’m doing a lot more functional training, full body circuits, supersetting strength and power movements… IDK what the hell u wanna call that but all I know is that I’m loving it 🤷🏽‍♀️😊 Here we got SUMMMM heel elevated goblet squats.. fun fact: by elevating your heels, you are decreasing ROM at the hip, increasing ROM at the knee, and encouraging deeper depth. Why is this important? You will recruit more muscle fibers in the quads/ cause greater quad stimulation 🍗 So try elevated heel squats on your next leg day if you’re trying to target quads/ stabilize your knee capsule more (or VMO’s). Narrow Stance Squat Free Bar Squat to shoulder press (a biiiishhh!!!) My daycare provider watched my daughter for a little extra time tonight so I could run to the gym for BODYPUMP. Normally I would've stayed for a second class and then gone out to do my own thing for another 45 or so minutes, so I thought I'd make this quick workout count. I increased my weight on every single track except one, and I can literally FEEL myself getting stronger. I can't wait until I'm able to go to the gym as much as I want to again! HAPPY MONDAY! 🌶 Had a lower key chest + tri’s workout this AM due to some less than stellar sleep last night 😴 kept it low weight, high rep, steady state elliptical for cardio instead of my usual incline walk, but still felt good to get it done and dusted to kick off what’s definitely gonna be a big week. In years’ past I would have just chalked it up to a rest day, but I’ve definitely toughened up mentally to meet those excuses and fight back on em. .. It’s important to know the difference between pushing yourself and actually hitting your limit. THE REAL AFFECTS OF ALCOHOL⠀ -⠀ A link between your after-work drink(s) and challenging symptoms such as PMS and hot flushes may seem like a stretch… until you learn that there is one organ that is responsible for metabolising both alcohol and womens sex hormones, such as estrogen.⠀ -⠀ This organ is our precious liver ⠀ -⠀ So how much is too much? ⠀ With all of the conflicting messages we hear about alcohol, it’s no wonder people are unsure whether a glass of wine with dinner will help or hinder their health. ⠀ -⠀ While we have guidelines that are designed to minimise the risk of harm from alcohol for the general population, we are all individuals, and our bio-individuality as well as our lifestyle choices can influence how well our body is able to deal with the alcohol we drink.⠀ -⠀ How alcohol can send your hormones out of balance?⠀ Once a unit of estrogen has done its job in the body, it is transported to the liver where it has to be detoxified (changed) so that it can be excreted. ⠀ -⠀ There are two main phases to this detoxification process. However, over time, the liver detoxification pathways – particularly the phase two pathways – can become congested, just like traffic on a motorway. ⠀ -⠀ Where once substances flew through the liver at 100 kilometres per hour, they now crawl through at 20 kilometres per hour, for example.⠀ -⠀ When this process becomes terribly overloaded from years of too much alcohol, refined sugars, trans fats, or the by-products of bowel congestion (as can occur with frequent constipation), the estrogen will undergo its first stage of change (phase one), but there is no room on the second stage highway (phase two). As a result, this slightly changed form of estrogen has a tendency to be recycled back into the bloodstream.⠀ -⠀ Your body is then faced with both the new estrogen it continues to make from your ovaries (if you are still menstruating), your adrenal glands and body fat cells, as well as the recycled form. ⠀ -⠀ This can lead to excess estrogen which can contribute to challenging symptoms like PMS/PMT, heavy, painful periods, pre-menstrual migraines and headaches, bloating and fluid retention.

i did not count my macros all weekend due to my best friend’s birthday festivities, but today my abs are poppin’?!?! Leg day and foam rolling! This workout flew by and by the end I was all “that was too easy” but in the middle of it I was definitely huffing and puffing. I guess strength training is just like running in that regard! I finished hard runs thinking “I could do that again...” but during I was, well, huffing and puffing! Lol I’m thinking about signing up for a few local short races in the next few months just to kind of give running a purpose. If I’m not training for something it seems my motivation is just nonexistent. In other news, cramps. Strength training with cramps is unfair!!
