The animals of the reef - Drawing collage . 🐬 . If oceans become more acidic then crustaceans, shells and corals will loose their main source of carbon to grow. If they can’t grow or reproduce then they will dissolve in more acidic waters and all of these beautiful creatures might be lost too! Fighting for life is a serious issue for all. . Reposted from @icaremvt ( @get_regrann ) - Amazing turnout for the climate strikes yesterday. Over 4 million in 163 countries. And counting... ‬Thank you all!! ‪And if you belong to the small number of people who feel threatened by us, then we have some very bad news for you: ‬ ‪This is just the beginning. Change is coming - like it or not. We only need to mobilise ca. 3.5% of the population for peaceful change to happen. And when it happens, it happens very fast. An example is the fall of the Berlin Wall. People, keep striking and take a couple of friends to the next strike! We have to end this madness! So what else can you do? Here are a few things : Reduce your own carbon footprint by wasting less, eating less meat and switching to renewable energy where possible. Talk to your friends, collegues and family about climate change. Tag someone and use climate change messages in your feed. Like and comment on climate change messages to increase their reach. Join a local group like #schoolstrike #extinctionrebellion #stopadani #fridaysforfuture #parentsforfuture And most importantly, #votefortheclimate ! Do you care about the planet? 🌏 Tag someone who should see this! 🔊 Help us grow the community by following 👉 #icaremovement and 👉 @icaremvt. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌏 The biggest threat to the planet is the fact that most people (voters) don't realise yet how urgent the climate emergency has become. Sometimes words can’t express what humans connecting on another level does. Thank you Sydney folk (& worldwide) for standing up! @scottmorrisonmp + other govt Climate deniers, your country speaks loudly to you. What legacy do you want to leave our children? Did you know we only have 11 years left to prevent a major climate catastrophe? , We need change, badly! We can do so much better. According to scientists there is still time to prevent runaway global heating. We can still do something now. Let’s act on this together before feedback loops take the control away. This is not front page news every day, because our mainstream media are owned and controlled by the same forces that own and control our governments with the one goal to keep us distracted enough to keep raking in fossil fuel profits. We have to end this madness! So what can you do? Here are a few things : Reduce your own carbon footprint by wasting less, eating less meat and switching to renewable energy where possible. Students and concerned people marching in front of the Cairns Corporate Tower, FNQ. What a show! At least 1500 marched around the CBD. After feeling so depressed and disillusioned about the Government lack of action on climate change, in amongst these young people I felt hope and I felt empowered. This is so important! The fact that so many expressed their concern in Far North Queensland reveals that people from all walks of life are becoming more and more alarmed about the recording breaking heat waves, bush fires, droughts and floods. Take note Scomo! #stopadani #climatestrike

Yesterday was amazing at the #climatestrike ; from being left of stage for the incredible speakers, especially the Indigenous local women and the men who’ve come down from the NT to speak of the climate change they see - it’s not a hoax, theirs is a living #climateemergency . And a special treat to meet the cool guy who did the “Welcome To Country” from @seedmob #alwayswasalwayswillbeaboriginalland . We are still exhausted (well I’ve also been arranging my meetings with @hermes in Paris until 1am every night 🤩) - so a huge Well done to the young people of #sydney , it was phenomenal, encouraging, inspiring, hopefully, urgent and very very moving. I’m on the brink of rage quite frankly. The time for debates designed to deflect shows us who the narcissist’s are who are stealing from our children’s future. We need leadership that steers us away from the industries we know full well that are causing harm and investment in jobs and industries that we also know can rescue us before it’s too late. . Yes the solutions are available but business cannot do it on our own or fast enough without government support. . These are facts. And this is the only series of facts we now should focus on. Anything else is literally giving oxygen to narcissists. . On the journey home we were photographed and given such warmth from a bunch of elderly Chinese people who understood &’loved our signs and who get it. No shared language needed but a shared understanding that it’s time to act. . . And time to call out the narcissist’s because “our house is on fire” and #auspol Especially the @liberalaus are not doing anywhere near enough. it’s beyond appalling that Australia’s Prime Minister is in New York at the same time as the @unitednations Climate Talks yet refuses to attend. So he cares nought about you and the 300k Australians who just tried to get his attention. Zero and that is pure narcissism. But lastly Thank you @gretathunberg for showing us the way, we will #notstop . . . #stopadani #climatechange #climate #climateprotest #climateaction #alwayswasalwayswillbe #indigenousaustralia #firstnations #strikeforclimate #youthclimatestrike #waronwasteau #climatejustice

Sending out a huge thank you and big virtual high five to everyone who attended the strike yesterday 🙌🙌🙌 . I asked Eve, my 9 year old daughter, if she wanted to go and she said no, she wanted to stay at school. Of course, I support her decision 100%. She enjoyed the last one we went to but I think she also found it confronting... which is totally fair enough! . The thing is, Eve is genuinely worried about our planet. She understands climate change in her wise little 9 year old way, and it scares her. Even if it wasn’t an issue we discussed at home while we’re learning how to tread more lightly as a family, the media exposure around climate change is unavoidable so she’d be exposed to it either way. I’m hoping that by learning about, and implementing more earth-friendly ways of living at home will help to ease her mind and help her to understand that all of our actions, no matter how big or small, can be motivators for positive change. . A 9 year old shouldn’t be dreading summer because she remembers the think plumes of bushfire smoke shrouding her city the summer before. A 9 year old shouldn’t end up with an armful of litter after walking home from school. A 9 year old shouldn’t have to be asked “do you want to go to the climate strike today?” because the adults governing her country are actively destroying her future. But hey, that’s our reality. . I couldn’t make it out there yesterday, but I’m damn proud and grateful for those who did. . Activism is the antidote to apathy 💚 . . . . #climatestrike #climatechange #activism #makeachange #schoolstrike4climate #thereisnoplanetb #sustainability #fridaysforfuture @gretathunberg #greta #climateaction #stopadani #ss4c

September 20th Global Strike 🌏 Over 10,000 in Newcastle. Over 330,000 across Australia. Early estimates say over 4 Million people went on strike for Climate Justice on September 20th in over 150 countries. Millions of us all striking for Climate Action I’m so grateful to have co-hosted this event with the wonderful @abby.nancy . It was beyond extraordinary to address and speak to a crowd so large in Civic Park. To feel the passion, the anger, the disgust and the fear from everyone in attendance. Thank you to all that came to both show support the movement and use their voice for a call to action from our politicians. Thank you so very much to everyone on the @newyschoolstrike team, I’m so grateful to have met and worked with extraordinary young people pushing for big change. So now that they hear us, it’s time to get louder, keep the conversations going, keep pushing change. It's really hard to stay emotionally engaged in the world all the time. It's really fucking exhausting & debilitating with mental illness sometimes. It's also my privilege that allows me to both know things & tune out of them- to be able to both strike & choose to not show up... It was achingly poignant to witness thousands of kids in school uniform screaming chants through anguished faces yesterday. To see people holding their babies & feel the weight of their futures when we're all dead & rested of this world. I feel painfully aware that what this photo represents is not enough. We need focus on decolonisation, state action, snap action, money in right hands, WATER in currently parched communities where people are sick from contamination while we talk shit about keep cups & reusable straws. Etc etc etc, even this is just another fkn insta post from another fkn white who isn't doing enough in an echochambering vacuum. Don't need responses pls . #stopadani #stopsydney #aboriginalland #decolonisenow #climateaction #harmreduction

It was pretty incredible yesterday to join thousands in the Gold Cost and millions worldwide striking for #climatejustice • Australia is a gorgeous country I love getting to call home. I cannot understand or make peace with the fact that the Australian government is discussing opening another coal mine or drilling deeper for oil in the Bight (a marine environment to which 85% of its species are unique). There is ample space and sunshine here for renewable energy. Why aren’t solar farms being discussed? Would genuinely love to understand this better. Is there any real reason other than environmental neglect? • While we were marching yesterday scummy Scomo is buddying up with fellow denier Trump instead of gearing up to take part in the UN’s emergency climate change talks in 2 days. A summit Australia has been banned from taking part in because of our lack of measures to try and prevent climate change 🤬 it’s just incomprehensible to me. • I’m feeling a little sad today that no matter how much we do as individuals to try and reduce our environmental impact, it feels futile when big companies and governments aren’t doing more to drive change. • #stopadani #savethebight #climatestrike #climatejustice #goldcoastclimatestrike #whereisscomo #savethereef #plasticfree #sustainableliving #savethefuture #climatechange

Out of the bazillion protest signs I saw yesterday, this one stuck out the most - It’s a shame that it might only take the whimpers of a room full of suits to change the path of humankind, because the roar of 150,000 people who were courageous enough to shut off their computers/put the tools down/walk out of school and make some noise is a sound I’ll never forget #globalclimatestrike #nonewcoalmines #stopadani #recalibratereality

One year ago, a single child decided to go on strike from school, demanding climate action to protect the future of our planet and countless species including our own, homo sapiens (Latin for "wise man" 🙄). Yesterday, millions of people in 185 countries joined her to make the same demands, upwards of 300,000 here in Australia, 30,000+ in Brisbane where I marched (shout out to my boss and friend @angusmclachlan for proactively suggesting that our team take part). The three demands are clear; swipe ➡️ to read them. While in the past I have shared my feelings and views on this issue through social media, yesterday was my first time taking an active role in the movement. Honestly I felt a bit awkward because I know that I personally can do a lot more to reduce my own impact through the way I consume etc, but I'm so glad I went. We can all make changes to what businesses we support and how we consume, but if we have any hope we also need urgent action from our supposed leaders to course correct by making obvious decisions, followed up by difficult actions, for the protection of our collective future. I was overwhelmed by the passion and strength on show yesterday, and the overarching feeling was one of momentum. If you have felt weird about taking part in these events and letting your voice be heard, I urge you to take the plunge and lean into it. There will be more protests, more marching, more shouting...more opportunities to get involved, so if you want to come along next time this happens in Brisbane, let me know! Further peaceful disruptions are planned for early October. We have to fight for this, it's worth it, and our future literally depends on it 🍃🌳💪✊🗣️ Climate change is real and it's coming for us, it doesn't matter who you are

Sea levels are rising, but guess what? So are we. 100,000+ of us in Melbourne yesterday, and hundreds of thousands more across the globe. While it often feels like our voice is too small, that there’s nothing we can do, that these decisions are made for us, and ‘what’s the point?’ - this cannot stop us from trying. It cannot stop us from fighting for our home as loudly and as frequently as we can. From showing the people in power that we seriously give a fuck, and reminding them that there are no jobs and no money on a dead planet. 🖕🔥🌏 🌱 In the words of the strike’s founder, @gretathunberg : ‘What we should do as individuals is use the power of democracy to make our voices heard and make sure that the people in power cannot continue to ignore this.’ ➡️ some of yesterday’s best signs. 🙌

How wonderful to see such initiative taken by the youth yesterday at the national strike for climate change action! Whether you believe in climate change or not, it is undeniable that we are killing Mother Nature. Somewhere along the way we got dissected from nature. Instead of living in harmony with the land and ocean, we started to instead build walls and knock everything in their way down. Nature has almost become a commodity... something to be seen on holidays in a contained, safe environment. Yet when did we forget that this planet is what sustains us. Without clean air, trees, and water, there is no life! . So what can we do about it? It’s so easy to say “it’s too hard”, “it’s not my problem”, yet It is. We need air, water and food to survive. We need sustainable solutions now. . Yes there will be sacrifice, but they don’t need to be drastic if everyone jumps on board. Every action you take as an individual has an impact on the world. Although our leaders need to think about the future rather than short term economic solutions, we all need to take action. . Start with something small... *a keep cup for your daily coffee * eat more plants * pick up some trash, even if it’s not yours * recycle responsibly * re-purpose materials to give them new life to avoid a pointless dump at the tip * reduce your shower time by 1 min * exchange clothes with friends * grow a herb garden . The list of small positive actions is endless... . Humans are creative in nature, sustainable solutions have been and are being created. We do not need to rely on what we have always done because it’s easier. Let’s instead be positive and excited about creating new sustainable solutions! And heck, new solutions = new jobs! Win win! . ❤️ ✌️ #strikeforclimate #strikeforclimatechange #sustainablesolutions #saveourplanet #climatechangeaction #takeaction #saveourtrees #saveouroceans #cleanair #ecofriendly #ecominded #savetheenvironment #positivefuture #stopadani #bethesolution #saynotoplastic #saynotoplasticstraws #everylittlebithelps #homeonwheels #sustainablehousing #solarpanels #solarsytems #powerofthesun #buslife

Over 300,000 people attended the Global Climate strike in AUSTRALIA today. How amazing is that. I joined over 10,000 students and workers today in Perth to voice our concerns about climate change. I was scrolling through some of the comments on a local papers Facebook post and no wonder the place we happily call home is a mess and suffering 🤦‍♀️ Also doesn't help we have a climate denier as our PM. Anywayyyy I think it is so amazing that so many young people are standing up and speaking out, doing their bit to help. It's more than I can say for a lot of the older population who just criticise. I remember when I was in primary school and I wrote a school project on turtles and how they are affected by plastic bags and straws. I WAS 8! I also did a project on how tiger numbers were getting smaller and smaller. I have always loved animals, always loved our environment, I spent a huge amount of my childhood outdoors and at the beach which has only led me to be more passionate about looking after it 💙✌ . . . . . . . #australia #visitnsw #sydney #bondi #djiglobal #bonditocoogee #sydneyaustralia #bondibeach #australialife #australiagram_nsw #climatestrike #climatechange #stopadani #nsw #fromwhereidrone #dronedaily @covermore #ultimatetraveltales #droneoftheday #womenwhoexplore #beachlife #dronepals #dronegirls #dailydrone #visitaustralia #beautifuldestinations #discovernsw #womenwhodrone #seeaustralia #australiagram #girlswhotravel
