from @smashwerx - Have you ever had a shoulder impingement? Yeah it hurts, and you feel like there’s nothing you can do. . Or even worse, you don’t even know what’s wrong with your shoulder. . This week I’m doing a series on how to figure out what is wrong with your shoulder, and then, how to fix it, quickly. . The shoulder has an incredible range of motion and because of that, it’s a target for injury and pain (actually I’m surprised that the shoulder doesn’t get injured even more than it does). . When it comes to an impingement, outside of an anatomical variance, the cause is a decrease in the subacromial space by either inflammation or malposition, or both. . The reflex of the shoulder is to clamp it against your body when there’s pain, which is exactly what you DON’T want to happen. . So we are going to do three things, we’re going to test for an impingement, then create joint space, then reclaim more movement. . THE TEST . 1. Stand 45 degrees to the wall. 2. Elbow at your side, hand up at shoulder height. 3. Gently rest the hand on the wall and slowly step away, bringing the shoulder into flexion/abduction 4. If it hurts, and you can’t raise it up, congrats, good chance it’s an impingement. . A lot of HOAX personal trainers are out there taking advantage of clueless people. Its is impossible to call out all the PRETENDERS one by one, because there are just too many of them out there. And I have a better approach, and that is to EDUCATE people, so that they will not fall for these scammers anymore. If your “personal trainer” can’t discuss basic anatomy and physiology to you, it’s time to find a new trainer. If your coach can’t explain the energy systems and it’s relevance in creating your program, it’s time to find a new coach. If your “online coach” doesn’t have a periodization plan for you (especially if you’re an athlete looking to compete at a specific event), time to find a new online coach. If your “powerlifting coach” doesn’t know anything about accommodating resistance and compensatory acceleration training, or even basic progressive overload, it’s time to find a new coach. If your “fitness expert” can’t even compute your macronutrients (protein,fat, carbohydrates) for you, time to find a REAL trainer. Et je me rends compte que je mets mes objectifs « physiques » de côté pour me concentrer à mort sur les performances : Augmenter mon cardio, mes charges et mes répétitions. • • • C’est parce parce que vous avez un dos ultra larges que vous callerez 15 tractions : J’ai un dos pas mal et j’en fais pas énormément. Je suis « fine » mais je cours pas des heures. Technique is something that can always get better. Even the top guys are focused more on moving well. . I harp on this as a coach all the time. There is no point moving your top end weights if you are missing or you are fighting for the lift. Only leave that for the competition platform. . The cliche saying for taking a step back so that you can take more steps forward holds true for technique. Not feeling flash, I decided to work on finding the separation back in the cleans today with some block work and some hang work. Yup, not 100kg but good work done with the movement. . Spend more time working on your technique so you spend less time worrying about your numbers. . #techniquefirst @jurmainehealthbody

Training & Dieting _ Coach @jess.rodriguez.j is 1 week into a mini cut after spending 5 months in gaining phase. Mini cuts are short aggressive dieting phases with the aim of keeping body fat in check whilst in a long term gaining phase. This video may seem unrelated but what we want to talk about is training whilst dieting. _ It’s very important to remember that fat loss is dictated by a calorie deficit with resistance training having a lot less bearing. Calorie deficits and especially ones as aggressive as a mini cut will take their toll on your energy levels, motivation and recovery capabilities. For this reason making reductions in training volume are likely going to be beneficial in obtaining the desired result. The aim in this period is not to build muscle, it’s to lose fat, so pushing training volume isn’t necessary and instead working around your MEV will result in a better outcome. Lowering training volume will allow for better recovery, less fatigue and likely better adherence to the diet.

It’s about being kicked when you’re down, having no idea how you’re going to get yourself back up, but somehow finding a way. It’s drowning and fighting your way back to the surface to breath again. - It’s something that is in all of us, but not everyone is able to tap into it. Find the strength to move forward and leave your past behind, but never forget how you got to where you are. If the crab tries to climb out a second time, the other crabs may even try to break its claws to completely prevent it from escaping. Unfortunately, some humans respond in the same way when they see someone around them achieving some kind of self-improvement that they believe they can't achieve themselves. Why? Because misery loves company. The crab mentality thrives on the assumption that if someone else becomes successful, this should somehow suck the joy out of your life. These ‘friends’ see us as competitors rather than people to unite with and use as a source of inspiration. Don’t let the opinion of others hinder your progress.
