Presumably in the VIII-IX centuries the great ancestor👳🏻 of Kazakhs, which name is Korkyt, was born. He was a legendary person, mentor and adviser of the people, great musician🎶, composer and storyteller, founder of the musical art of playing the kobyz (Kazakh national musical instrument), akyn (improvising poet and singer👨🎤 in the Kazakh and Kyrgyz cultures). He was recognized as a holy person😇.
All of Korkyt's life, from birth to death, people described in the legends💫. According to the one of them, Korkyt for a long time tried to create a unique musical instrument. Once in a dream 😴 angels came to him and said: "Wrap the wooden instrument with a camel's skin🐪, make the strings of a horsehair🐴". Completed all this Korkyt created kobyz and extracted from this instrument a wonderful melody🎶🎵🎶.
The birth of Korkyt is also described by one legend. Right before his birth there was an eclipse of the sun🌒. In complete darkness a storm and rain began, thunder roared and lightning flashed⚡⛈⚡. The people were very frightened. But as soon as the child was born🤱 everything around calmed down, the sun shone brightly🌤. And people decided: "He came to this world at a time when everyone was scared, he frightened all of us😱, so let's call him Korkyt (which means "fear").
Korkyt was born, grew up and died on the bank of the Syrdarya river. In honor of Korkyt in 1980 there was installed a monument. The monument consists of four vertical steles 8 meters high. Each stele looks like a huge kobyz, and all 4 oriented to the sides of the world. When the wind blows🌬, the monument makes sounds resembling the sound of kobyz🎼. In 1997, as a result of the restoration work, an architectural ensemble was created, consisting of an amphitheater, a hotel and other facilities.
