Today I visited the butterfly house in Copenhagen for the first time. I was with a 7 year old girl so I thought it would be a quick visit. We were in there for over an hour with my mini tour guide finding tiny frogs that the adults didn't see. Thanks to her sharp eyes we even saw a butterfly hatch . . . . #mypathtotravel #butterflyhouse #butterflys #butterflyphotography #travelwomen #explorewithme #traveltagged #postcardplaces #travelcommunity #livetoexplore #earthoutdoors #visualsofearth #thetravelwomen #athomeintheworld #wheretofindme #wheretonext #copenhagen 🇩🇰 #sharingcph #wonderfulcopenhagen #botanicalgarden #visitcopenhagen #visitdenmark #mitkbh #københavn #nature_captures #igerscopenhagen #culturetrip #livethedream #passportready #globelletravels

Just the standard bike attire in Copenhagen when it's Friday in the greatest bicycle city in the world. On your way around in the city on bike, #localsknow we bet you'll notice biking is not just to burn calories but also for leisure. Life is truly lived on a bike here!

. #cafeogølhalle1892 #cafeogolhalle #dansksmørrebrød #smørrebrød #food #foodporn #jegelskermad #visitcopenhagen #sharingcph #uep_cph #bestcopenhagen #nofilter #instafood

Throughout its history, Copenhagen was, above all, a port town. The Nyhavn canal, shown here, was an waterway intended to connect Copenhagen’s interior with its harbor. The canal was constructed under the direction of King Christian V from 1670 to 1673, but the hard work of digging the channel was done by Swedish prisoners of war from the Dano-Swedish War of 1658 to 1660. As a commercial fishermen’s neighborhood, Nyhavn has always been a lively place associated with food, drink and entertainment of varying levels of respectability. It still is today, as the city has redeveloped the former red-light district into one of Copenhagen’s top tourist destinations. Side notes—Nyhavn is home to the world’s oldest tattoo parlor, operating since 1884, and ubiquitous Danish author Hans Christian Andersen also lived in Nyhavn for approximately 18 years in four different houses along the canal.

Copenhagen is much more than the usual tourist attractions. Today we did a private tour with Alan and Sue from California, we showed them not only wind turbines, but also stopped at a bike roundabout with a bike parking garage - they photo says "We love bikes". Are you also curious about what Copenhagen has to offer off the beaten track? You can either book one of our weekly tours right here: https://www.greenbiketours.dk/ or you can book a private tour at info @greenbiketours.dk #greenbiketours #bikes #bike #welovebikes #visitcopenhagen #visitcph #visitdenmark #hiddengems #offthebeatentracks #bikeculture #windturbine #sustainability #green #greencity #sharingcph #climatechange #explore #renewableenergy #guidedtours #greentours #sustainabletours #tours

Frederiksberg Garden is our favorite garden in Copenhagen. There... we said it! Birds are chirping, some people are napping, others are reading, it's just a good time. ⠀ ...⠀ With its inauguration in 1749, Frederiksberg Garden has its name from the district of Frederiksberg, otherwise known as the posh area in Copenhagen. Whether you fancy a lovely stroll or just an escape from the busy buzzle of the city, the garden has something for everybody. ⠀ ...⠀ It is truly a garden of romanticism, which caters to those who wish to explore all the beautiful fauna, lakes, winding paths and canals that are to be found in the garden. Whatever chaos may be found in the city, the garden exists as a stark contrast, embodying calmness and tranquility. ⠀ ...⠀ Enjoy gliding through the canals in a canoe while birds sing and chirp. Have a nap on the grass, read your favorite book or perhaps walk to the Elephants' open enclosure on the western side of the garden, which is a hotspot for those seeking a snippet of zoo experience.⠀ 📷 by Daniel Rasmussen⠀ #around_copenhagen #frederiksberg #denmark #copenhagen ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

What a gorgeous place for a farm to table dinner with friends. Even cooler that this farm sits on a rooftop in a nearby climate friendly neighborhood that I can bike to! This is Gro Spiseri at the organic community supported farm Østergro. Delicious, seasonal and locally sourced økologisk food presented family style in a darling little greenhouse in the center of the garden. More in stories and post coming soon on the blog. #eatlocal #travelsustainable #cometocopenhagenshesaid

Palads Bio (1918). The second cinema building, designed by architects Andreas Clemmensen (1852-1928) and Johan Nielsen (1863-1952). The interior changed dramatically in 1978, when one large cinema room was split up into 12 smaller cinemas, enlarged later with 5 more. When it was painted in 1989 by Paul Gernes (1925-1996), it was generally called a scandal, and some named it “Candy House”, but in 2017 where plans were to remove it, public opinion had changed to that it would be a scandal! Tastes and opinions change over time. #paladsbio #nybarok #neobaroque @nfbiopalads #andreasclemmensen #johannielsen #paulgernes #visitdenmark #opdagdanmark #danisharchitecture #city_explore #cityphotography #copenhagensworld #theprettycities #københavn #copenhagen #visitcopenhagen #voreskbh #cphpicks #mitkbh #arkitektur #architecturelovers #archi_focus_on #archi_unlimited #urbanphotography #sharingcph #copenhagenfacades #picoftheday #travel_captures #photooftheday #travelawesome

Good morning, Copenhagen! I recently returned from the most amazing trip with my wife and kids to this beautiful city. One of the highlights? Waking up at 2:30 a.m. to watch the sunrise at 3:30 a.m. and photograph this beauty while the tide rolled in! The Little Mermaid is a statue of the fairytale character dreamed up by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The statue was unveiled 105 years ago and has been serenely perched on these harbor-side rocks ever since. Well, not quite. Because of the statue’s fame and proximity to shore, this mermaid has had a rough go over the years when it comes to vandalism and protests. She has been decapitated twice, once in 1964 and again in 1998, but her head was only returned after the 1998 incident. In 1984 her right arm was cut off, which was returned two days later. She experienced an attempted decapitation in 1990 and was left with an 18 cm deep cut in her neck. In 2003, vandals placed dynamite beneath her and blew her into the harbor. At various other times, she has been drenched in paint, clothed in burqas and otherwise used in various protests. So while she may seem a little precious up there on those rocks, she’s really anything but. And maybe that’s a bit like Copenhagen, beautiful and idillic, but also tough and full of energy. It was perfect.

Life is better with flowers 🌷⁣ ⁣ I have always loved flowers as my mom would always have lots of flowers around our house all year round. ⁣ ⁣ Now that I am a mom myself, I try to pass on that love for flowers, and to take the time to smell the flowers when we are out and about. ⁣ ⁣ So a few months ago when we had a day in Copenhagen, Denmark, naturally we had to stop and smell the beautiful flowers at all the cute litte flower shops that we passed! 🌿⁣ ⁣ Do you have a favorite flower?

Sometimes it surprises me how some of the prettiest places I find are not places I cross the ocean and fly to see, but are places right in my own “backyard” here in Copenhagen. This church is for sure one of the prettiest I have ever seen if not the prettiest⛪️✨

Seeing all the tourists exploring in the sunshine today, made me stop and take it all in for a moment. There’s still so much to discover. It also made me think, after more than two years of living here, I should do a proper city tour. Probably without kids so it can last more than 20 minutes...!

While having a walk in the Charlottenlund forest, there is a path leading to a gate that is opening to a beautiful green garden. If you are not familiar with that area, it comes like a really nice surprise. The summer warm air is so fresh here and it has a calming scent of damp earth and pine trees. The park is an English style, Romantic garden of 14.2 hectares, redesigned in 1880. Here there was actually a royal summer residence, situated 10 km North of central Copenhagen. Charlottenlund Palace was named after the Princess Charlotte Amalie of Denmark, who was responsible for its construction. She was the daughter of King Frederick IV of Denmark, with a very kind and reconciling character. In spite of her qualities and good relationship with all the family members, due to some unfortunate circumstances she never married. In her will, the Princess created a foundation with the purpose of financing the upbringing of poor girls. All in all, a beautiful castle and park, with a special history behind it ❤️🌲🌳💫🇩🇰 #charlottenlund #charlottenlundslot #park #royalgarden #summerindenmark #sharingcph #travelblogger #travelphotography #palace #architecture #danisharchitecture #cozydenmark #cozycopenhagen #traveltodenmark #govisitdenmark #danishlifestyle #igersdenmark #scandinavien #denmark #kobenhavn #slot #igdaily #beautiful #thursday #ilovedenmark #bestcopenhagen
