Muskaan is an 11-year-old girl who loves to play on the swings, go in the water, and be outside. She lives with Alazami Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that also causes global developmental delay and a seizure disorder. She is non-verbal and requires care 24/7, meaning her parents rarely get a break.
Maskaan’s seizures are the most difficult part of her illness, and even though she’s had three surgeries in the past to control them and takes 30 anti-seizure pills a day, she still has seizures about twice a week. Her longest seizure lasted two full hours. Muskaan has the brain development of a two-year-old, and she is frequently in appointments at the hospital. Her younger sister, Eknoor, sadly shares the same condition.
A wish for Muskaan would mean she and her family get to experience a little relief from their ordinary struggles. Because she is non-verbal, her parents aren’t sure what her wish will be yet, but they want to find something that will bring her a great deal of joy.
But first, she’s helping her #TIMBERMARTHeroesChallenge team, Team Design Roofing's Super Sharks, fundraise more than $10,000 for her wish! Come out to @Design_roofing 's Make A Splash fundraising tomorrow in Port Coquitlam to have fun while making a difference (check out link in Design Roofing's bio for more info). @timber_mart_canada
