The ancient obelisk at Karnak Temple.
Again, it’s difficult to tell the sheer magnitude of this structure from the photo but it’s massive. Carved out of a single block of sandstone, this obelisk erected by Pharaoh Thutmose I towers high in the Karnak Temple in Luxor.
Every single thing you will see in these ancient temples is symbolic and holds some significance to the religion of the ancients. Often placed in pairs at the entrances of these ancient temples, obelisks were said to represent the sun god - the ancients’ greatest deity.
