The Three of Swords usually comes up when we are causing ourself unnecessary emotional pain
While we are overcome by heartbreak and in a state of loneliness we can often feel as if everything is falling apart.
It is important to release our emotions when pain gets to much, however we must still make sure our focus is towards the future, as it is easy to get caught in the emotions and lose sight of the need to let go!
I like what Stephanie wrote about this card, that we must “let the torment drain away; be purified of the black blood, and then lift up white wings to dance with the sky once again”.
The fact is, we won’t die from a heartbreak, even though we may feel like dying. In time, we will heal, and the hurt will be a thing of the past.
There is some piece of us that we need to lose or grow away from, a tumor that needs to be excised or a habit that no longer does us any good.
The Three of Swords is about heartbreak, sure, but it doesn’t have to be paralyzing, and it doesn’t have to last long.
Rain is another symbol of emotion, feelings. The clouds could be showing us clouds of confusion, difficulty seeing clearly. So the swords of intellect are piercing the heart, our source of emotions, our source of love, our source of that inner sense of knowing good and evil. The rain, our feelings, showers down around us, and clouds gather confusing us further and preventing clear sight.
The best thing for us to do today is to avoid stewing in our own disappointment.
