Today I'm sharing my Christmas biscuit recipe 🍪🍪🍪 It was given to me by a German friend (Hi, Franzi!) almost 30 years ago and I have used it every year since (although the amount of sugar listed below is 1/2 that of the original recipe. Suits us, but some folks might want to add more ...) 150g softened butter 125g sugar 4 eggs Vanilla (pod or essence) Pinch of salt 2 tblsp sour cream 650g flour 2tsps baking powder Cream the butter, gradually add sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt, mix well. Add flour and baking powder. Knead. Leave to rest in cool place while heating oven to 180°C. Roll out dough, cut out shapes, bake until golden (8-10 mins). Some of my most vivid childhood memories are of my maternal grandmother (who was an AMAZING cook!) and her sisters, my mother and aunts and us cousins, sitting around making “khajyache kanavle” for Diwali or with my paternal grandma and family making modaks for ganpati. Of course, at that point, I would have rather been playing my GameBoy or reading a book or something that I perceived to be “cooler” than sitting around with the oldies and cooking. Bleh. Now I realize how much we have lost without these community pickle-making, papad-making, sweet-making sessions. How much knowledge of not just cooking, but about life itself was passed down through the generations. Tips about babies’ teething and colds, about newly weds, about knee problems, all were rolled into these laddoos and fed to the next gen. A religion that I have always admired for keeping this community vibe alive is Sikhism. And of course, the incredible Kada Prasad that I used to run to get from our Sikh neighbours when I was a kid. 🌿I found this amazing recipe few days ago and I really enjoyed the tea👍❤️⠀ ✅Tea from a flaxseed is perfect for rehydration. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, the tea nourishes the cell membranes, and tones and protects the digestive tract from top to bottom. ⠀ ⠀ 🌿Ingredients:⠀ ✅2 tbsp of flaxseeds⠀ ✅1 liter water⠀ ⠀ ✅Put the seeds and water in a pan and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and leave to stand with the lid on for 12 hours or overnight. ⠀ ⠀ ✅The next day, bring to a boil again and simmer for 1 hour. Strain off the seeds. These can be eaten - add to oatmeal or to baked goods.⠀ ⠀ ✅Put 4 tablespoons of the remaining liquid into a large mug. ⠀ ⠀ ✅Dilute the thick liquid with half boiling and half cold water.⠀ ⠀ ✅Drink 1 mug of the 3 times daily, half an hour before meals. ⠀ ⠀ 🌿If you in a hurry and don't have time to make the flaxseed tea by the full method, you can do a super-quick version for one day's tea, by simply boiling 1 tbsp of flax seeds with a cup of water in a pan, until the water is reduced by half. Smoked Chicken Risotto Note: Ratios vary to personal taste... Ingredients: •3 garlic cloves •1 brown onion chopped •3-4 Tbsp olive oil •Arborio Rice (1 Bag feeds a shit load of people!) •Smoked chicken •Mushrooms •2-3 litres of vegetable stock (homemade if possible) •Herbs (e.g. fresh thyme, sage, oregano, Italian parsley) •Parmesan •White wine Method: •Heat vegetable stock to boiling & then simmer •Mince garlic & chop onion •Sauté garlic & onion in oil on a hot pan •Add rice to the pan & sauté for a few minutes (this breaks down the starch) •Add 3/4 cup of wine & let it evaporate •Ladle in 1/2 cup of vegetable stock & stir continuously •Once evaporated, add another 1/2 a cup and continue until rice is NEARLY al dente •Add in smoked chicken, mushrooms & herbs just before al dente •Add the last of the stock •Once liquid has all evaporated, add grated parmesan cheese •Serve with a glass of your favourite wine Tips: •Change out smoked chicken for spicy bierstick. Cook chopped biersticks with the garlic & onion process. •3/4 cup of wine for the risotto = 3/4 cup of wine for you •Make the vegetable stock from scratch (red onion, carrots, celery & water - boil for 1.5 hours) •Always taste your food & season accordingly •More is ALWAYS better

PASTA PARTY 😋🍝🎉 finally home and I haven’t made my OG gigantic pasta dishes (who else eats out of salad bowls? 😅) since I left Australia and I was seriously craving something gluten heavy and savoury after eating 500g of dates and lots of sweet potatoes yesterday 😂🙈👌so I just boiled 300g (dry weight) of @delverde wholewheat fusilli with a simple turmeric tomato sauce served on a bed of greens (1 head of Indian lettuce and 3 cups of butter lettuce) topped off with some fresh pepper, several tablespoons of nooch and lots of walnuts for some healthy fats and a yummy crunch 💪 this was SUPER satisfying and really settled my pasta cravings. I made some healthy cookies today by just inventing a recipe as I went which I do often but sometimes they just don’t taste that great however today's batch were actually so good so I thought I’d share a rough recipe with you guys. Ingredients: 2 cups of almond flour 1 1⁄2 tablespoons of cacao powder 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder 2 tablespoons of honey 1 tablespoons of vanilla extract 3 tablespoons of coconut oil 1 date 1 egg a sprinkle of slithered almonds Basically I just mixed it all together in a bowl and rolled them into a cookie shape. I then baked them for about 10 minutes at 150 degrees celsius and viola! Let me know if you try these ones, they are delish!

Facile et rapide : des spaghettis aux crevettes 🦐 • Décortiquer 500g de crevettes, les faire revenir dans un peu d’huile, d’ail, sel et poivre. Saupoudrez légèrement de farine et mettre de côté. Dans la même casserole, faire sauter vos brocolis dans un peu d’eau au début, puis y ajouter un peu d’huile puis de la sauce de soja pour donner un peu de goût. Une fois les brocolis cuits, y ajouter les crevettes et un petit pot de crème fraîche (20g). Assaisonnez selon votre goût (ail, poivre, sel).
