What do you need to do if you are actually pretty happy with your weight, but you just want to tone up a bit? . Truth is training smart is absolutely helpful and can speed up the process, but without reassessing your diet you will probably not get too far... . Chances are you may be consuming the right amount of calories, but your carb-protein-fat (aka macronutrient) ratio is totally off (most people eat too many carbs and fats and not enough protein). . There is no magic ratio in case you are wondering, it is totally person dependent. But a good starting place is to set your protein intake at 1g per pound of body weight and fill in the rest according to your liking/lifestyle (for example I weigh roughly 130 pounds so I am for about 130g of protein). . You may be thinking more protein is only for those who want to bulk or get stronger. That is absolutely not the case. Protein helps to build lean tissue and that is the case for everyone. “Toning” basically means increasing lean body mass and that requires protein. Full stop. (And yes that is possible for vegans or vegetarians too) . In terms of training: first of all - nutrition is far superior in changing body composition than training by itself ever will be. Secondly, endless hours of cardio will not help you get from “skinny fat” to toned. Resistance training paired with the proper nutrition is the key and cardio can be an additional tool. . How to implement this? ➡️see if you calories are actually adequate (track your intake) ➡️found the right amount? Good. Now set your protein to 1g per pound of bodyweight and fill in the rest of your calories with carbs and fats according to your lifestyle and preference. ➡️train smart. ➡️be CONSISTENT. ➡️be patient. . HOW TO SPLIT MACROS FOR FAT LOSS by @muneebmashadi.fitness • Before I get started I just want to point out that this is just a blueprint. You don't have to be exact with this. But try to get as close to this as possible. • For breakfast I recommend no carbs because your body's hormonal environment after waking up favors fat loss because of the absence of insulin. So go full keto style on breakfast if you can - high fat and high protein. • For dinner you should do the same because of the same reason. You want to release as much growth hormone as you can while sleeping. Think of it as no carbs before bed or after waking. • For any other meal you should eat a moderate amount of carbs to sustain energy throughout the day assuming you aren't following a kato diet altogether. Most people don't know how to make it sustainable until they at a pretty advanced level. • Around workout, fats will interfere in the utilization of carbs and protein which are needed to increase performance in the gym.
