Breaking the strike of squat PRs with poopy squat day 😂 coach said to chillax so I did (good thing I didn't try to PR again , would have been RPE 15😅). Single with 116kg and then 3x3 with 107.5kg. Meet Recap | Squat; 112.5, 120, 125 (275 lbs) 17# meet PR. | Bench; 65, 70 (155 lbs), 75 - Should have went for 72.5 as my third but got excited and went for it. Tied previous meet PR | Deadlift; 120, 127.5, 127.5 (281 lbs). Mentally shut down on 2nd attempt. After watching the video, I would have hit it and had a chance at 130 (286), but it is what it is. 6# Meet PR | 322.5 Kg (709 lbs) total adding 10 kg to my total from last October. _____________________________________ So many people to thank for all their support leading up to this meet! Lastly, deadlifts. These were definitely off, and I was so tired because it was getting late. Because of that, I decided to go for a meet PR instead of trying for 400, but fatigue had set in. This was the "mystery event" and it buried me. We were told to train grip and Carrys. They TAPED the stick to the implement. The stick WOBBLED. I was told to lower the implement after upwards movement, lowered it, was told to put it down. There was a 1 inch margin of error. Judge was inconsistent In calls and rules. THE MIDDLE WEIGHTS GOT 2 ATTEMPTS. Morning weight 87.2kg/192lbs. Was convinced I’d fried my CNS on Thursday. On Friday I was making strange noises getting in and out of our car. I was planning on 195kg for 2 reps today if I hadn’t fried my CNS. Well, apart from being a little stiff, I smoked 3 reps. Let’s recap deadlifts first, bench next, squat maybe never 😂. Pulled 650 for the first time, breaking the halfway milestone to 700. Overall thought ALL my numbers could’ve been higher, but considering the amount of crap I went through leading up to the meet, all the way up to bad news the night before (friend wrecked), I’d say it was a great meet to pull all PRs and to add 50lbs to my total in like 6 months. Especially the deadlift cause people that know me know that my deadlift was going great until a couple injuries and setbacks took a lot back again. And especially because I haven’t pulled conventional until this meet prep for YEARS. Anyways, here’s my 650 PR. Looking forward to adding much more to that by January

I feel like I'm obligated to start this post with a ThE MeEt DiDnT oG As pLanNed. That's a shitty mindset. . I learned a ton from my 4th competition with @uspa_east this Saturday. . A couple of the lessons are as follows: . 1. Don't flip out when a call doesn't go your way or get mad at the judges. They don't want to red light you but are tasked with upholding the integrity of the sport. So fucking do better (and I will). . 2. One day doesn't summarize your whole performance as a powerlifter or the work you put in and don't quit (especially mentally). . Vid shown was my 3rd attempt at squats with 645lbs. This was red lighted and left me with my opener of 606 (not a pr). . I pulled my head out of my ass and went on to total 1625 (again not a pr). . The Positives . - 1 won the 275 open and Submaster class. . I qualified for Nationals in 2020 (that was my goal). . I achieved a Master Class total (1st time). . I took 4 NC State records ( totaling 7 now as a Submaster). . I HAD FUN. I think people forget that sometimes. . Coaching at the GPC brits 2019: As with any coach there will always be a first meet that you handle you’re clients at. And this was mine , @hotboiitrizzy And @bigbellysquats had been working with me for 14 weeks prior to the Brits and there performances matched. . Tristan @hotboiitrizzy Went 630kg at the 2018 brits and ended he’s 2019 meet with a huge 722.5kg total (92.5kg pr) . As a coach there will be times when you have to really get into your clients heads and i don’t shy away from that as i know from personal experience how vital it can be. .
