★★★★✩ Sweet Chive ( @sweetchive ) So I don't know who did what, but Yelp says that this place is Sushi and Google says this place is Chinese. Well, I'm here to tell y'all 𝒘𝒆, are not all the same lol! This restaurant is actually a Taiwanese restaurant a fairly authentic one at that. Now, nothing beats a mom's cooking but the stuff that they serve here, especially this Lu Rou Fan dish, is supposed to be soul food. Now, I pretty much had a Taiwanese family baby sitter at about 22. Long story short I was in between apartment leases okay? Anywho, everyday coming to my temporary housing from work there was guaranteed to be rice, this meat in sauce stuff. If I did eat for dinner, they scarf this stuff down like in three minutes but that's also probably because if you don't eat fast, you don't eat. .
This Ground Meat in Sauce dish at Sweet Chive isn't as good as theirs but it'll do. So it's a simple dish really. The meat is supposed to be braised in the sauce so it's tender and juicy. it embellishes the rice and then the pickles embellishes the meat. Pickles also added a crunch bite that texturely and flavorfully cuts through the fattiness of the meat. Sauce is a 50/50 sweet and salty flavor. This session was straight forward. I mixed it all up with a big spoon and devour it in, also, 3 minutes.
