Chocolate orange fans, these little sweet treats are created especially for you 😋 🍫 .
400g dark chocolate (70% +)
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla paste
Zest of one orange
(Melt in a heat proof bowl over a pan of boiling water)
Meanwhile toast half a cup of nuts and seeds in the oven for 5-10 minutes (I used chopped almonds, pumpkin and hemp seeds)
Remove chocolate from the heat, add 2 tbsp of coconut shavings and 2 tbsp of oats to the mixture
Pour into a small shallow lined baking tray
Top with toasted nuts and seeds and use a teaspoon to push these into the chocolate mixture
Pop into the fridge and leave to set, then remove and cut into small squares
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for moments when you need something sweet! .
For people with a sweet tooth (like me), opt for a dark chocolate with cocoa content over 70%. Cocoa contains plant compounds called flavanols. High in antioxidants, studies have linked high concentrations of cocoa with improved cognitive function & heart health. Remember though, it is calorie dense (a treat!), so a few squares is all you need if weight loss is the goal 👌
