How's your Sunday going?
Sharing two Filipino snacks that are #accidentallyvegan .
1. GUINATAANG HALO-HALO
Guinataan means with coconut milk, while halo-halo is mixed. This is a hot, thick, sweet soup with coconut milk and mixed vegetables and fruits like sweet potatoes, small round sticky rice, bananas, jackfruit, tapioca pearls. This one from @viamareph has either ube flavour or purple sweet potatoes to achieve that color. .
Palitaw means "floats". The sticky rice mixture is usually small, oval and flat. You cook it by dropping the shaped mixture in boiling water. Once it floats, it is well-done and ready to be coated with shredded coconut. Then it is sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds sugar and more shredded coconut on the side. It is served on banana leaves.
