So pleased to welcome this This cute enamel Zebra striped EDS pin which comes with delicate pink glitter on it’s ears to the @chronicallydivine collection! It has been made to help spread awareness of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). EDS is the name for a group of rare inherited conditions that affect connective tissue. EDS can be a complicated chronic disease that is both extremely painful and life changing. .
A Zebra is also a term for someone with a rare medical condition. In medical school, future doctors are told, “When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras,” meaning that it’s more likely that your patient has a standard illness, not something rare that has a one line mention in your medical textbook. Ergo, if you have a rare medical condition, you are the Zebra in this equation. Technically, there are a lot of zebras out there, but the EDS community has publically claimed the zebra as its mascot (https://iamchronicallywell.com/spoonies-and-zebras-and-frogs-oh-my/) This pin is to raise awareness of this. .
There are 50 of these cute pins in a limited edition run, and I’ll be selling them at an exclusive Instagram discount of 37% off until Wednesday 29th May 🥳✨💙🥄✨Just type in INSTAME35 when you check out on Etsy, and your discount will be applied 😊
