"If you could change anything from the past 30 years, what would it be? Opposite my home, homeless people live in tents. Something went badly wrong, and we need to set it right. Key Performance Indicators replaced kindness and we were persuaded we were an economy and forgot we were people. We lost our moral compass as a nation. And we need to get it back... If we could reimagine ourselves as a kinder country where we see poverty and inequality as the central test of whether we have succeeded or failed as a society, then we would be on the way to being a great nation"... salient words from our most ordinary and humble great writer #richardflanagan in today's #weekendaustralianmagazine as part of the mag's 30th anniversary edition. "Flan" and I had a great chinwag during this shoot, where earlier in the day I also photographed another humble hero and living legend, Bob Brown, who isn't in the magazine unfortunately. It was a big day. A fab one too!
