Some hormone truth nuggets! Preach @drjolenebrighten 👌🏻👌🏻 #Repost @drjolenebrighten with @get_repost
I just took a DNA test turns out I'm 100% that doctor that other doctors don't want you to know about. 😉 @lizzobeeating is a 👑 queen!
Ok, but for real, hormonal birth control will NOT & can NOT fix your hormone imbalance.
I know this is hella inconvenient for me to say when your doctor is passing you the pill, patch, ring, IUD, or whatever in a 7 minute visit to "fix your problems." Now before you spin the story like, "Never mind her, because she's obvi anti-birth control" go back & read my last post. First gen 🙋♀️ college grad thanks to BC, so no, anti is not my jam. Please remind yourself that you've never been, nor will ever be as basic as that logic.
There's this silly story told to women that questioning birth control is anti-women. You know what is anti-women? Not speaking up or listening to women. For real, birth control is necessary. I did it for 10 years so I could put that big D, little R in front of my name.
But once upon a time I was told that birth control would "fix" my period. WRONG. It stopped my brain from talking to my ovaries. But I thought I was fixed.
Boy was I wrong.
Those bleeds? Not periods.
That new onset of mood issues? My doc thought was me, not the pill.
Those yeast infections...also me!?!?!? Nope.
Shut 👏 It 👏 Down 👏! The reality is, those symptoms are your body's way of telling you something is up.
❣️Painful periods? Might be endometriosis or prostaglandins.
❣️Irregular periods? Might be PCOS or thyroid disease.
❣️Acne? Might be gut issues, PCOS, nutrient deficiencies.
You deserve both symptom management & root cause investigation. Yes, I know "root cause" has become a new thing to hate on because heaven forbid we ask why before treating.
You can have your birth control & answers to your questions.
Listen, if you want to use birth control to manage your symptoms then that is 💯 your right! But you need the full story & that's what I'm all about!
