⚠️ long post warning ⚠️ . .
This morning I step out of the shower to find Nohland standing at the baby gate at the top of our stairs saying, “bash bash”: asking to take a bath. So I get it all set, clean his poopy diaper and stick him in. *now let me make clear, before I continue, my family is very open about body parts, sexuality and not shaming our naked bodies. We educate, answer questions, and encourage to be age appropriate explorative because I don’t want my kids growing up thinking our naked bodies, curiosity about them, or when they get older sex is a bad thing or something to be ashamed of as society has made us think. So if you’re someone who is afraid to read certain “dirty” words then maybe don’t continue*. As soon as he hits the water he looks at me, grabs his penis and goes “pee pee”. I had to hold back giggling at my innocent babe acknowledging his naked body. I said to him, “yeah that’s your pee pee”; only for him to respond, “no” and proceed to pee in the fresh bath. I could only
guess that he was trying to tell me he had to pee, so I said to him, “we don’t pee in the bath bud; we pee in the toilet. Can you tell me next time and we can try?” He looks up at me, leans over the edge of the tub and points to the toilet and says, “oooohh”.
So long story short, I think it might be time to start introducing him to the potty. My biggest fear of being a parent, and the one thing I know nothing about - potty training!
