#Feminism is a very popular word, but many ponder its exact meaning. French philosopher, Francois Marie Charles Fourier coined the word "feminisme" in an analysis of how women were treated as politically, socially and economically inferior. Fourier stressed that the development of civilisation was dependent on the development of the female population. ⠀
The fact that the name "feminism" has western roots has often misled people to the conclusion that feminism is not an #African ideal.⠀
