𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆: 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮 Once under the helm of Alexander the Great, Macedonia was the most powerful state in the world, with an empire extending across Persia and Greece to Egypt and India.
Macedonia today however is clearly at odds with itself and for good reason too.
I remember walking the beautiful streets of Skopje, admiring the amazing 15th century architecture and enjoying their incredible food (a must try if you ever go & surprisingly cheap too!). On the other hand however, I also unfortunately witnessed heavy anti-government protests from the local population who claimed ill treatment, extortion and provided shocking accounts of corruption.
I met with several governmental ministers during my visit who interestingly provided their own interpretations of these events but agreed that much work, through diplomacy and dialogue, was required to win back the peoples' trust in government.
