Memory Rez Lane:
It’s the last day of 2019 Crow Fair today. So, I figured I share some pictures I found yesterday. Both my Mom and I rode in the 1974 Crow Fair Parade. It was my first parade and also my first time riding a horse with my Mom. In the picture we look soo stoic lol.
In 1993, 19 years later, I returned to ride in the 1993 Crow Fair Parade as the 1993-1994 Miss Seminole Princess. I didn’t ride on horseback in the Parade, but it was still a cool moment.
Later that day, after my Princess duties was done, I was able to change into a Crow Fair Pow Wow t-shirt, some jean shorts, and white Keds.(Remember those lol.😹) I was able to ride horseback after all! I made a new friend the first day I was there. It was probably because I talked a lot and told corny jokes, but either way my friend invited me to go riding. I rode bareback for the rest of the day that day on my friend’s horse. Riding along side my friend was something else. We went to visit her family’s encampment. Imagine riding past teepees with kids running around and Pow Wow music in the air. It was awesome!!!🐴 After riding and visiting, we ended up at a river to water the horses. Sitting on top of my horse for the day, I just took in everything I was experiencing. Watching the kids splashing in the river, feeling the sun drying me after getting wet from a water fight(I was collateral damage lol.), and hearing the sounds of laughter and beating drums filling the air, it was a good day.🙏🏼 Hope you enjoyed reading about one of my favorite memories while I was Princess. I was fortunate enough to have met so many great people during my reign. All the Tribal Royalty I met were the best part of my year. I enjoyed making new friends with them, and keeping them.
This was a memory worth remembering.💖🙏🏼☺️
