The start of a new week for me and back to work tomorrow... I have the week planned around my work hours to fit in some writing and planning. I'm at one of those funny stages where all my current WIP are kinda out of my hands, it's a very strange thing not to have something specific to fiddle with.
So, I have taken to starting my planning for what will be my @nanowrimo project this year - it will be the first draft of the third novel to my new urban fantasy series and I can't wait to get started! I did some basic character planning notes the other day, printed some pictures and decided on characteristics and personality traits that I would need as a trying point.
I'm not really much of a planner, I'm much more a pantser, but I do keep notes as I write and often have some of the basics down. I already know the storyline so a basic plot outline will also go in there before I begin writing...
A question that seems to be circulating recently is how do you plan/track your progress? By word count, chapters, hours sitting by the laptop? And I have found recently that my plans have had to change again. Whilst working on my last project, what I hope was the final draft, I was working chapter by chapter - but now I have found time is a key for me until a word count comes into play!
Apologies for the long post there - if you've stayed with me, thank you! What's on your to do list this week?
