#ThirstyThursday 🍷 Something I get asked often as a fitness coach is what I think about drinking alcohol & living a healthy lifestyle &/or starting a new fitness journey. This is a topic that is very different for each fitness coach. Some coaches are completely against alcohol & some, like me, believe & experience personally that you CAN have alcohol and stay healthy & “fit” (that also means different things for different people). . . I have gone out WITH clients & gotten a drink before. I never tell my online clients they cannot have alcohol. I do not talk down or scold any of my clients, friends, family, etc.for choosing to drink. BUT if you ask for my help or opinion, in regards to a balanced lifestyle, this IS what I’ll tell you: ✨ One RANDOM night is not going to destroy your results instantly. When I say random I mean rAnDoM. Multiple nights of going out WILL wreak havoc on your body, internally & externally. Also, this is in regards to general population clients. I do not train prep clients (competitions/shows) where my answer would be different. If you weigh yourself or do an inbody scan, yes it will appear you ruined all your progress overnight but your hydration levels are substantially different. Get back on your shit & you’ll be fine. ✨ be mindful of your alcohol choices. I don’t like liquor, so I choose wine. I know my wine is high in sugar, so I probably shouldn’t have 8 glasses. If you do like liquor try getting adjusted to vodka sodas or vodka waters. Avoid high sugar cocktails. However, if you can’t stomach those be EXTRA mindful of how much you’re drinking ✨ get in check with yourself & WHY you’re drinking. Perhaps the issue is less with the fact that you’re drinking & more with the external factors. ✨ social drinking is a huge problem with clients & I’ve experienced it too. Find sneaky ways (if the people/setting ends up being pressure filled) to have the bartender give you water whenever someone orders you a drink or you order a “drink”. Or find new friends who don’t give a damn if you’re drinking alcohol or not 🤷🏻‍♀️ ✨ find what’s realistic & sustainable for you. Most people can’t quit cold turkey, but can start SOMEWHERE.
