How’s everyone feeling about the like function being removed? I posted the notification I got in stories today and received a lot of DM’s very much in favour. I LOVE it. Today on the gram I’ve actually focused on words and photographs. I didn’t realise that my eyes immediately drifted to the like tally.
I’ve had my personal insta since 2011, when it was all chronological, authentic and just... fun. As a maker and small business owner I resisted utilising my business insta for at least 12 months after I opened. I loathed the fakery and herd mentality. I put that aside last year and am so glad I did because now I get to watch how these positive changes all play out. And I get to do it with the amazing small business owners and customers I’ve met through this medium.
In honour of authenticity, here’s a snap I took the other day after I’d tidied the play nook. It’s overcrowded but fulfills my child’s interests: tiny things, shiny things, sensory play, bees, frogs, turtles, dinos and baby dollies (in the other corner). It also fulfills my need for appreciating handmade, wood, natural materials, thrifting and having a happy child 🌝
