Back on this thing called social media. Well, social only if you are using it to your advantage and not being used by it, eh. Valuable tool, not more. Spent the last week at my good friends yearly intensive - @jonathan__schmid you did great! Very intense and valuable week for sure. Now continuing my dance. 4 day intensive coming up this weekend followed by another 2 day event the weekend after. Happy to be able to host events like these where I can go deeper into my work and propose different ideas to the students. Starting October 28th I will teach an 8 weeks Finding Flow course in Munich, which is almost fully booked. October-December is already filled with workshops, meet ups, and interesting stuff. A few things about MY HAIR 💁🏼‍♀️ ~ You guys ask me about it, so here is how I’ve gotten my hair to be this long, while still keeping it healthy! ~ ✨ I don’t dye my hair. I used to and it destroyed it, so I’ve a no dye policy. ✨ I never go longer than 4/5months without getting it cut. 🙏 @anna_maho ! ✨ I wash my hair only once a week, or once every 5 days, max. That might sound gross but it’s about training it not to get greasy. A tiny bit of dry shampoo around the edges of your face goes a long way. ✨ I only straighten it once a week, after I wash it, and I never straighten my hair in a hurry. ✨ I use @shuuemura oil (not an add) - this oil has been a total game changer! ✨ The only shampoo and conditioner I’ll buy is @redken or @kerastase_official . Buying the big salon size bottles makes it more economical. ✨ Last week I tried a new hair treatment @kerastraight at @trevorsorbie and so far I love the results. I don’t need to straighten my hair at all but it hasn’t gotten rid of my natural wave, just the frizzy bits ( #ad , but it’s actually really great)!🙌 ~ #hair #trevorsorbie #longhair

More than a month ago I started my own calisthenics gym.🚀 What I have learned during its first month is that most of the time people don't come for the location itself. THE REASON BEHIND Why do you do what you do? It is easy to get carried away or not even ask yourself your own reasons behind. It is easy to follow the trends, forgetting that we are all unique with very different goals, abilities, and purpose. Take even fitness for instance. Goal of aesthetics brings constant dissatisfaction because there is always someone genetically more leaner, or opposite - more muscular, and there is always someone who surgically adjusted all those bits and pieces, and if you ask me personally - aesthetics doesn’t come that much from randomly sweating your ass off, but way more from lifestyle and nutrition. That's why no matter how much I want to look good - it has never been my main goal. Instead, even at times when I felt lost, I would always watch people like @dylanwerneryoga or @yuenjon in awe, thinking - that’s what I want to do - I want to move my body freely in all directions like gravity has nothing to do with me. That's why I’ll never mind exploring handstands, strength elements, calisthenics and mobility for hours - because they allow me to move any way I want! When you have your reason - everything makes sense. Ps. ✨C O R E✨ These exercises are for us ALL & are useful for activating & strengthening the deep core muscles - transverse abdominis (TA) & the pelvic muscles. There is often too much emphasis on the aesthetic of the core eg. the rectus abdominis (the ‘six pack’) but the deep muscles are the most functional and will serve us so well through our whole life. This is why they’re great: 1. The TA act as a natural corset for our torso - holding our organs in place. 2. Connective tissue attaches to the spine, so they are a major detirminent for proper neutral posture. 3. The TA can be felt activating whenever you have a sudden exhalation eg. cough or being sick & can really aid labour. 4. Utilising the CORE HOLISTICALLY eg. the abdominals, lower back and pelvis in coordination: you will gain tension (strength), reduce the risk of lower back pain, support the pelvis (and pelvic floor) and reduce ab separation. •••••••••••••••• 1️⃣TA breathing - Natural spine, deep inhale, at the end of the exhale think of engaging belly button to spine and working sides of the body inwards. Hold for 5, release & inhale x10 2️⃣Leg slides - Maintain engaged tension from previous ex. Slowly stretch one leg away & back, without letting the core go. Then other leg. Breathe how feels natural to you - I exhale on the stretch x20 3️⃣All 4s activation - let stomach relax (but don’t push it down) then on the inhale pull it up to attach to the spine. Hold for 5, then release x10 4️⃣Pelvic tilts - neutral spine, at the end of the exhale, tilt the pelvis and imagine the belly button really activating to the spine. Release, x10 5️⃣Spine attached to floor - legs at right angles, whole of spine pressing down - hold for 10, release and repeat. 6️⃣Hip raises - Think belly button to spine and glutes really active. Try to move slowly through spine up & down x10 7️⃣Opp leg lift - Really try & engage core before lifting app leg & arm. Hold for 5 then change. x10 (if DR is present, work to just engage first, then only lift arms until strong before adding legs) 8️⃣Elbow to knee - advanced version of previous. Create your own tension as elbow moves to knee, the move originating at the core x8 L&R

MOBILITY MONDAY - The Adductor Group // Often the weaker siblings to the abductors; the muscles of your inner thighs move your legs together, initiate the alignment of your hips and lower back and play a crucial role in your standing poses (backbends, frontbends etc).⁠ ⁠ ⁠ If you're not sure which muscles these are - balance on a rail on one foot and all 5 muscles will start firing. I can be kind of a loner -> . I am content on my own and so focused on my goals that I can forget have a social life. I never sit still long enough to notice that it can get lonely. When I do sit long enough to notice I can feel really homesick for my #FBX community. As I am realizing that it is just as important to slow down and rest I am also seeing how important it is to spend time with others and share energy. It has been lovely to kill two birds with one stone and spend my rest days out in the park playing with the lovely humans of #bkk acro community. I am so happy to explore learning as a cooperation, rather than being on one side as the teacher or student. This new chapter is bringing the word 'balance' into so many aspects of life, literally and metaphorically. Growing up I was socially awkward and had a hard time making friends, but in finding my passion I have found a realm of people who are effortless to make friends with. I love that movement is a way to get to know yourself better as well as being a perfect way to get know others. “ISOLATION” EXERCISES ARE IMPOSSIBLE! It is physically impossible to contract JUST ONE muscle without creating a cascade of tons of other muscles all contracting as well! . . This does NOT mean that attempting to be more specific and target a particular area is a bad idea, in fact please keep doing it if you like! It’s just important to realize that even when we do isolation tests and claim that we are “isolating” the biceps, or the delts, or pecs, or whatever, it’s totally impossible to ACTUALLY achieve that! You will ALWAYS be using other muscles no matter what, no matter how hard you try to isolate something! . . This makes me wonder how valuable “isolation” exercises really are in the first place. Let’s say you get really good at doing biceps curls, and so your biceps are SUPER strong. Great. Good for you. Take a picture and get those likes on instagram... BUT - you may have never taught your biceps how to properly talk to or coordinate with the muscles up and downstream, so when you go to pick something up, or open a door, or any real world activity, your body has no idea how to leverage its strength through the entire body, and you end up putt shit loads of strain on one tiny area because that’s what you’re used to. This might create overuse problems. . . Wouldn’t it be more “functional” to practice using your WHOLE BODY to move weight and generate force? That’s going to put the least strain on your joints in the long run! . . Yesterday was my 20 year high school reunion. I didn't know what to expect. There was a moment when I was actually a little nervous. Here's what happened... You know that sensation you get when you see a friend after a long time? All the stories rush into your mind. Well, times that literally by 100. The best way to describe seeing 100 old friends simultaneously is 🤯. I've never used this emoji until right now. So I want to thank Drew Petonick and Courtney Campbell for organizing this opportunity to for everyone to reconnect and Tony Abrams for party bus. My thoughts, as we get older, it becomes more important to stay connected to your old friends and tribe. Last night was reminder of how special our group of friends (tribe) are. They are a reminder of where we came from and a source of connection when we feel lost or disconnected. Everything I've read about living a long meaningful life comes back to a sense community and belonging. So I am thankful for the luck of being born in Boca (during the 80's) and into great tribe of lifelong friends 🙏 I hope we all get to experience something like this again. Just about all I can handle right now. Gently moving through this time with as much grace as possible. Some days are better than others. Everything comes in waves. Grief is such an interesting part of life. It aches at your heart, feeling isolated, alone, deep sadness, stirs up all sorts of aspects in your life, for me it’s anxiety that has come up during this time. What I keep hearing is that it’s all normal and it will pass but for now I feel it so deeply. Working on all the tools that I am lucky to have to put into practice but it’s definitely it easy. These tools through yoga is how I even got to become so close with Kelsey. So even the tools remind me of her but it’s her light that brings a smile to my heart. Working on just connecting with nature, being SOFT with myself meaning very light movement either yoga or hiking. Can’t even workout without getting a mild anxiety attack. But through all this I only want to help bring more awareness to mental illness and spread kindness and compassion to others. You NEVER know what someone is going through. If you see someone sitting in sadness, smile, talk to them, be kind, share love. Thank you for all the love and support recently.
