6 - 8pm
PALFREY presents The Taciturn Moth, a solo exhibition by Benjamin Brett. Evoking frameworks of a narrative deprived of a protagonist, The Taciturn Moth is an installation that incorporates painting, sculpture and audio. The work poses a variety of placeholders to insinuate and investigate the presence of something that isn’t there, in a manner reminiscent of the ghost stories of M. R. James or plot devices characteristic of crime fiction.
Benjamin Brett attended the RU residency programme New York in 2017, studied painting at the Royal College of Art, London in 2013 and was a committee member of OUTPOST gallery, Norwich. Selected projects include: Orrlando, a solo exhibition at Melange, Cologne curated by Alexandra Alexopoulou, with a commissioned text by Samuel Riviere, 2018; The Emotional Content of the Revolution, a joint show with Kaspar Muller at Westminster Waste, London curated by Jonathan Watts, 2016. He also recently contributed to I Caught A Rat, We Caught Some Air, a collection of commissioned artworks in book format launched at Art Dusseldorf, 2018.
