As a celebration of spring, we figured nothing better than a pretty sour of sorts with a collection of flowers from the herb 🌿 garden. But, we’ve learned our lesson with our rose drink a while back, so figured we’d avoid a cocktail that tastes to flowery 🌸. Instead we felt that blood orange 🍊, apricot and bergamot felt like the perfect flavor profile (and color). The only thing that didn’t play along was the moody, cloudy weather, which is trying to keep winter around a bit longer.
Here Comes the Sun
▪️1.5oz @malfygin Blood Orange 🍊
▪️.75oz @thebittertruthcompany Apricot
▪️.75oz Orange 🍊
▪️.5oz Lemon 🍋
▪️Egg White 🥚
Place all ingredients in shaker and reverse dry shake 💃. Double strain into coupe glass, garnish with edible flower 🌺.
Wow! This is a cocktail that is easy to drink. Maybe too easy, to the point of tasting virgin. If we were to change one thing, we’d probably drop the orange to half an ounce to up the zest. Other than that, this is a wonderful drink with an insane color. The cloudy weather somewhat limited how much color we could pick up, but you get the idea. With every sip the cocktail greets you with a soft combination of bergamot, orange and apricot. None of the flavors dominate, but rather sit back and allow one to enjoy the nuances of the recipe.
