Winter is coming! But first we need to survive fall. Now there are plenty of things that I could recommend for all y’all to start doing to prepare your homes and bodies for the coming send, but let’s be real, you’re probably just gonna drink and eat your way through the fall anyway, so here’s a recipe to spice things up a little bit.
Still working on the name for this one, so if you’ve got a suggestion I’m all ears. Bourbon Orchard? Spiced hot toddy? Something along those lines.
Start by muddling 2 tablespoons of fresh apple with one ice cube. Add 2 oz bourbon of your choice, I like Basil Hayden’s or Woodford’s. Add 1 oz Domain De Canton, a super fire French ginger liquor. Grand Mariner would work as a substitute if you don’t have a bottle of Canton lying around, but honestly, you should remedy that. Anyway, add .75 oz of fresh peach purée, .25 oz honey, and .25 oz fresh lemon juice.
Mix all that together, and then double strain. From here, shake on ice, or even better, steam that shit and top with hot water. Garnish with three thin slices of apple, splayed, and coated with a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, cardamon, and all spice. Just cinnamon will do fine, but if you’ve got the other ingredients handy just a touch them goes a long way.
Boom. Enjoy, my not so basic Bend bros. Photo love by @dab_city_hero 💓 .
