2 great things about mid-season rustic paths: (1) They make everything seem deliberate, including your regrets; and (2) the plants brush against its edge which heightens your lush factor. Here's rustic #2 in the back garden. Finally found a place for a vintage bird bath basin that's been an eyesore on the driveway for a few weeks. #gardeninspiration #househusband #michigangardening #michigangarden #shadegarden #picoftheday #gardenjunk #slopegarden #midwestgarden #containergardening #watergardening #gardenpond #Englishgardens #gardening #inthegarden #gardencollage #serenity #beautifulgarden #birdhouses #garden #autumn #harborcountrymichigan #outdoorliving #gardenphotography #countrylife #architecture #homeandgarden #plants #containergarden

The first cabbage I've ever grown! I was able to harvest it before the cabbage worms damaged it. Sadly it was the only one to make it to harvest. I should have gotten a cover over the cabbages and cauliflower early on but life got in the way and cabbage butterflies never take a vacation so they wreaked havoc on the rest of the crop😓 Maybe I'll try a fall crop..... Anyone in the Midwest grown a fall/winter crop of cabbage? . . . . #cabbage #summervegetables #growityourself #growyourown #growyourfood #gardenliving #gardening #gardenharvest #gardenproduce #summervibes #mygarden #mybackyard #midwestgarden

Yesterday my mom and I went to a local nursery to pick out flowers for our front yard. We were there for 2 hours because two California girls picking out plants for the Midwest is hard, guys 😅 ha! Thankfully a nice lady who worked there helped us a lot, as well as a couple of my girlfriends who are gardening pros. I’m so excited about the plants we chose and can’t wait to get them in the ground tomorrow when the rain lets up. We got a couple types of hydrangea, lots of hostas, one peony plant (it’s a soft yellow with pink- so lovely!), two beautiful peach rose bushes, and a bunch of pretty pink annuals. Take a peek in my stories to see! . #flashesofdelight #midwestgreenhouse #greenhouse #summerflowers #midwestgarden #adventuresingardening

Rosa 'Fruhlingsgold' is now in bloom for the first time in our rose garden. Fun fact: Kordes bred a series of Fruhling -- German for "spring" -- roses in the 1930s. This rose remains available in the trade yet today.

My eye is always on the weather! 👀🌧️ I spent yesterday and this morning doing things that needed to get done before the rain. Now I'm doing inside work. Tomorrow I'll work on things easier to do after the rain. *** ➡️ For gardening tips, plus garden-to-table recipes and garden-style living inspiration, sign up for my newsletter at the link in my profile 📧 ( or here:  http://eepurl.com/c-hIHX ) #springgardening #springrain #harvest #inmygardentoday #inmygarden #gardenliving #gardentips #gardeningtips #gardeninglife #gardeningideas #gardeningadventures #gardenadventures #gardenlife #gardeninspiration #instaplant #growsomethinggreen   #instagardenlovers #instagarden #garden_styles #gardenlove #urbangardening #suburbangarden #midwestgarden

This morning's harvest! 🌄I finally thinned and cleaned up the cool crops in the first three beds I had planted. Now I'll be washing and storing all this during this afternoon's rain (See IGTV video). 🌧️ Shown in photo, clockwise from upper left: Baby Choi leaves and flowers (should've harvested earlier, but been busy.), mache (AKA corn salad-another first for my garden!), scrawny radishes (got nice big ones in another bed) and carrot tops from the thinnings of my first spring planting, spinach (wow-it grew!), and beet greens just thinned from my second spring planting. *** ➡️ For gardening tips, plus garden-to-table recipes and garden-style living inspiration, sign up for my newsletter at the link in my profile 📧 ( or here:  http://eepurl.com/c-hIHX ) #gardenliving #gardentips #gardeningtips #gardeninglife #gardeningadventures #gardenadventures #gardenlife #gardeninspiration #growsomethinggreen #urbangardening #midwestgarden #urbangardenersrepublic   #urbanorganicgardener #epicgardening #growwhatyoulove #growyourownfood #growwhatyoueat #harvest #growyourown #growedibles #homegrown #vegetablegarden #veggiegarden #veggiepatch #inmygarden #inmygardentoday #todaysharvest #organicgardening #groworganic #kitchengarden

Isn’t tobacco the prettiest? This is grown from heirloom seed from early colonial Virginia.

Looks like radishes and strawberries like to grow together! Who knew? These are the best radishes I’ve harvested so far! Anyone wanna barter? I love learning new things about my garden. Trial and err. I get asked so many questions about gardening and if I know I’ll tell you. But it’s funny to me because I honestly just throw seeds in the ground and see what happens! It’s all trial and err. Sometimes it grows, sometimes it doesn’t. I just love to experiment and learn. ❤️🌱 #Radishes #Strawberries #urbangarden #yardfood #organicgarden #compost #midwestgarden #citygarden #growfoodnotlawns #mothernature #goddesslove #motherearth #roots

My allium. Bought a new type this year. Not too sure about them. They don’t look that full to me. But that’s how they are supposed to be. What do you think?

SO PROUD!! 🌱 I was getting worried my little garden would never really grow. We’ve had flash floods for a month straight and now that the suns been shining my little sprouts are really growing! I used these cool clips to guide my cucumber vines up to save on garden box space. I’m so excited to keep watching them

My first (little) harvest of the year and my first ever since this is my first year gardening! 🍓❤️ . While I was out in my garden for what felt like forever weeding my life away (also shoutout to my mom who I conned into helped even though she just stopped by quick 😂), I found these two little guys just waiting for me & a little bit of basil! 😍 I can’t wait to see how the rest of my garden does this year! . . . . . . #midwestlife #firsttimegardener #midwestgardening #midwestgarden #gardenlife #growyourfood #firstharvest #strawberryharvest #growingstrawberries #

Garden 2019 is finally complete! Swipe through to see before and in-progress pics. The goal is to eventually reclaim all lawn. We'll add a few more raised beds next year (these are mostly veg and herb), create a pea gravel seating area, add woodchip paths, and tear up the other boulevards/hell strips for pollinator and rain gardens. Can't wait until everything fills in! Baby gardens always look a little silly. • • [Image descriptions: 1. The yard after the raised beds were placed. They have some plants, but no mulch or tomato cages yet. 4. The boulevard after ripping up sod but before planting, with a large pile of red cedar mulch in the middle] • • #summervibes #garden #midwestgarden #raisedbeds #boulevardgarden #nomorelawns #pollinatorgarden #burterflygarden #backyardeats #savethepollinators #beesafeyard #mystapul
