There are a million things wrong with this piece. The bezel is busted, the felted head is ill fitting, the mokume gane did not turn out well because I did not program the kiln correctly. Despite all these visible shortcomings, I'm really proud of this piece. .
I was new to jewelry/ silversmithing at the time and was hyped to learn. I wanted to marry my passion for textiles with a newfound curiosity. I spent hours in the studio fumbling, asking my teacher TONS of questions, felting, failing and retrying. .
If there's one thing I can guarantee, my work has become a hell of a lot cleaner! While I'd love to incorporate some textiles into my jewelry now, I have some bone/horn pieces in the works. These sweet little jewelry pieces coming to some markets this summer in NM. Follow my @nibi_us page to stay up to date!
