I have learnt through my years of living an āyurvedic lifestyle how to manage + tap into my bodies + minds needs. I used to work to the point of exhaustion, give give + then give some more till I couldn’t anymore - I would literally crash. Add to that a hyper vigilant state from years of my nervous system holding on to traumas that literally became me. My body would have to stop me before I would mindfully do it.
I would feel spacey, anxious , panicked, have sluggish digestion, was in my head all the time. - these are emotional signals that we are experiencing an increase of air and ether elements in our inner environments. The elements air + ether qualities are erratic, cold, full of movement and are unpredictable. As well as our vagus nerve telling us that you have some big stuff to deal with - our gut and brain they are close + communicating all the time. .
My constitution, me at the core naturally love to work , I move quickly, I am very passionate and love to work - always have. Pitta /Vāta are my dominate constitutional traits. So if you are also like this and find yourself feeling depleted, here are some simple ways you can balance yourself. .
• get to bed by 10ish and turn off your screens - blue blockers are fine once in a while but when they can become a crutch. .
• Eat sweet, warming + oily foods - whole grains, root veggies, ginger, cinnamon, warm teas , avoid cold drinks , + ghee. To name a few. Sweet does not mean refined processed junk. Decrease or switch out coffee to herbal teas. .
• apply warming oil or medicated ayurvedic oil like sesame to your skin and give yourself a message daily ( avoid while bleeding)
Apply oil to the bottoms of your feet. .
•get out into nature .
• avoid vigorous exercise opt for something lighter and more focused. .
Add Ashwaganda and tulsi to your day. .
Remember everyone is so individual +may or may not require all of these things. .
What I love about this ancient science is that is has longevity in its effectiveness, it is rooted in nature - and has helped me not only heal myself but help countless others do the same. .
