Fotinha com algumas celebridades do meio do mato #libidibiaferrea (Pau-ferro). Talvez tenha sido uma espécie bem comum na região mas essa foi a única que encontrei durante todas as minhas pedaladas por esse setor. #arvore #planteumaarvore #planteumaárvore #preserve #meioambiente #paisagem #ride #mtb #mountainbike #pedal #agreste #pedaladaecológica #trilhaecológica #plantasnativas #floranativa #florasilvestre #arvoresnativas #pernambuco #garanhuns #bike #tree #nature #landscape

🌳 Nome científico - Libidibia ferrea, anteriormente Caesalpinia ferrea 🍃 #pauferro #arvoresdobrasil #libidibiaferrea #naturezaagradece #salveanatureza #preservacaoambiental #leopardtree #braziliantree

Caesalpinia ferrea, previously known as Libidibia ferrea and commonly known as Brazilian ironwood, leopard tree, and Pau ferro and is a source of nectar for honeybees. Thanks for the info @skateboardingbotanist ! as I don't have much information on this plant. Also known as Rautakesalpinia in Finnish; Brasilianisches Eisenholz and Leopardenbaum in German; respectively. The silky white bark is also a very attractive feature of this species. This tropical beauty is planted all around the world as a street or feature tree. They can grow to as high as 30m in their favoured sub-tropical climate. This one is often confused for the golden rain tree (Koelreuteria paniculata)

Couple new blocks of wood, Libidibia ferrea 'Brazilian ironwood' (by way of Turkey) with a density of 1275kg per cubic metre, and figured Eucalyptus saligna 'Sydney blue gum' from a local wood shop with a density of 907kg per cubic metre. I have a long fascination with dense wood and like to calculate and compare the density of diffefent species. 1,000,000,000 ÷ volume in cubic millimetres × weight in grams ÷ 1000 = kilograms per cubic metre. #exoticwood #australianwood #ironwood #brazilianironwood #libidibiaferrea #eucalyptussaligna #sydneybluegum

ABCs of #ExoticTrees continue with the #Caesalpiniaferrea (now known as the #Libidibiaferrea ). Also known as the #LeopardTree , this tree is originally from #Brazil and #Bolivia. This #evergreen can reach up to 15m and has a broad, flat-topped crown. It makes an attractive #featuretree with its ornamental patterned #bark , which is the reason behind its common name 'Leopard Tree'. This tree also goes by #BrazilianIronwood , with a strong #wood that is often used for #bass and #electricguitars. With #acacia -like foliage, this tree produces a beautiful yellow #flower in the summer. Fairly fast-growing, the Caesalpinia ferrea tolerates full sun well and fixes atmospheric nitrogen. We currently stock 40L, 100L, 400L and 1000L of this tree. #TreeNursery #JustTrees #LandscapeDesign #LandscapeLove #GardenDesign #Paarl #SouthAfrica

Did you know that NParks conducts a walking tour for the Civic District Tree Trail? We are glad we checked out the tour today as we learnt loads about the old or unusual trees and, of course, several heritage trees in the heart of our city. Captured here is the leopard tree (libidibia ferrea), which is the same type you'll see clustered at the outdoor seating area in front of Plaza Singapura. This one, however, branches out in a totally different way from the usual tall and upright form, giving it a dramatic crown and its unique character. With peeling bark that gives it its shades of brown, she's a beauty. Do check out NParks site for the next available slots! P.S. Bring a hat! ✨ . . . . #civicdistricttreestrail #singapore #sg #sgtrees #sgstreetscape #leopardtree #treelove #treeporn #tree #tree_brilliance #libidibiaferrea #civicdistricttour #urbanjunglebloggers #plantpeople #treepeople #treehugger #nparksbuzz

21st July 2016 . . . . Seed pod from a Libidibia ferrea tree Height 56mm / Width 29mm Other names - Brazilian ironwood, leopard tree, Caesalpinia ferrea The very dense and durable wood of this tree lends itself to multiple uses from building electric basses and guitars to general building materials in flooring, fancy furniture, and handgun grips. The wood from this tree is so heavy and dense that a piece of the seasoned wood can sink in water. In the Amazon region of Brazil, the fruits of Caesalpinia ferrea Martius (Brazilian ironwood) are widely used as an antimicrobial and healing medicine in many situations including oral infections.
