#ad Teenage Mikah would’ve been terrified of this photo. “That’s so gay!” was the popular phrase at the time, and it had me scared to dress the “wrong way” at school, to sit with my legs crossed at my desk, and made me hate having to walk down the hall to class, always wondering if my hips were too swishy and it’d give me away to my peers.
Adult Mikah is thankful I made it to a place where if someone said, “That’s so gay!” I’d take it as a compliment—because it means I’m not afraid to be me, unapologetically.
This summer, I’m helping @statefarm share their support for @glsen to make schools a safer and more inclusive place for LGBTQ youth, so that hopefully students of the next generation can dress, sit, and walk however they want. #HereToHelp
