As someone who doesn’t experience time always in a linear sense being present in the moment isn’t always easy for me. Which moment? I do my best to pay attention to where I am, what I see, my breath, texture or my clothes, the feel of my hair on my shoulders. Brings me back to where I physically am at that moment. I feel like it’s even more important when I’m in the presence of greatness. This island has so much beauty, wisdom, healing, energy and love that I don’t want to miss a minute of it.
This had to be a working holiday and I had to have very clear boundaries with myself to when to completely check out and be done with work when I was finished each day as I only worked part-time or less.
It was great practice as I rarely work when I’m here. I never had to draw such clear lines between work hours and the rest of my life.
It’s definitely something I’ll pay more attention to when I get home. Looks like when I’m motivated I clearly can do it! It’s been a great lesson and practice.
It was liberating to close my computer and not constantly plan, coordinate, email and text or even think about work from that moment on. I just was so busy paying attention to everything else. Things that nourished and healed me. Things that gave me joy. Beautiful nature beings I’ve never seen before. I’d think being able to be fully participate in my own life and being present in the moment actually would be a grounding experience. It had the opposite effect. It boosted my clairvoyance of all things. Because my mind would be so busy otherwise I literally wouldn’t see what’s in front of me.
Normally my intention when I leave the island is to continue living with the Spirit of Aloha and now I’ll definitely add this state of truly being present in the moment and being able to separate my work from the rest of my life. I know it’s importance but knowing and experiencing are two differ things.
Since what I do is also who and what I am, it hasn’t been easy. I finally fully experienced it not only for a short amount of time but hours and hours each day. This might sound silly to you but it’s been eye opening for me. I was literally working full time and (Continues in the comments below)
