ATTENTION: THIS IS A V*I*P* (Very Inspiring Post)
This photo is of myself and my husband at the starting line at the She.Is.Beautiful 5K Race Santa Cruz on Saturday. Back at the end of December, I was working on goals for my business but realized that the foundation of my jewelry design business is ME. Plain and simple I can’t be nearly as effective in running the business of my dreams if I’m not healthy and fit and capable of drawing from stored reserves that will help me withstand the challenges and obstacles I face going forward.
So, with many things in my life I immediately signed up for last Saturday’s 5K, downloaded a Couch to 5K App and began training. Cut to Saturday - I ran and walked the race and excitingly - completed it! Most importantly, I set out to complete a goal and did. Oftentimes, I thought of giving, up not because it was hard but because I wasn’t actually able to run the 5K in 35 minutes as the app instructed. As I came down to the wire last week, I thought about not continuing, coming up with an excuse and not going. Then I realized, the win came from showing and completing the race whether I walked, run or a combination of both ~ time be damned. I’m so glad I did. I would have been so bummed to have given up on myself and now I’m ready to continue running and am looking for my next 5K as I write this….. So please, don’t give up on the goal because you may have to change how you get there, because you did it! Have a wonderful week!
