women’s month means acknowledging the suffering of women in the past AND to this day. thousands upon thousands of indigenous women go missing and/or are killed every year. this is something we need to be aware of and that needs to be stoped •athena🌻 (follow @soft.feminism for more!)

#Repost @rachel.cargle • • • • • • This is violence. This headline regardless of the content of the article is VIOLENCE. Are you kidding me @theeconomist. • I am demanding that The Economist show up with a public apology, take responsibility for your harmful words, that they give a full and robust voice to the trans community to counter this violence on their platform. This is UNACCEPTABLE. • Read the words of @munroebergdorf : “I can't believe that I am reading this. I can't believe that in 2019 these are the conversations being had in supposedly reputable mainstream media outlets about people like me. I can't believe how every day it these conversations go from bad to worse. I can't understand how one can look at this and not see the parallels of Nazi eugenics within this headline. I can't believe that Helen Joyce, a known transphobe who regularly contributes to white supremacist media, is allowed to misinform the general public in this way. I'm disgusted and appalled, but ready to fight and resist this hateful and dehumanising propaganda. Shame on you @theeconomist. This is how you open to door for genocide, not equality. Allies, pease tag @theeconomist below and use whatever resources you have to speak up for the trans community at this time. #rachelcargle . . . . . #EmpowerWomen #WomensRights #IntersectionalFeminism #SocialJustice #IntersectionalFeminist #Feminism #Feminist #Transgender #TransRights #Genderfluid #NonBinary #LGBT #GirlPower #YesAllWomen #GirlBoss #RadicalSelfLove #BodyPositivity #theythem #effyourbeautystandards #Fembot

Intersektionel feministisk fyraften, bliver i Maj. Det bliver på Nørrebro. Og det bliver til en fyraftens øl. Begivenhed oprettes snarest. . . . . . . . . . #intersektionelfeministiskfyraften #intersectionalfeminist #intersectionalfeminism #intersektionelfeminisme #samtalesalon #samtale #patriarkatet #patriarchy #patriarchytalk #magtstruktur #politiskmagt #patriarkalskmagt #voldskultur #overgreb #succes #karriere #mændogfeminisme #feminisme #feminist #mænd #kvinder

Sisterhood. 🥀 The notion of this word is as important as ignored. Is it really about effective communication, overcoming segregating differences and embracing uniting similarities? Communicating effectively does not have mental boards or linguistic barriers, it’s all about empathizing, understanding. Sisterhood is about empathizing with each other, embracing other’s struggles and overcoming powerfully society’s need to keep women alienated with each other. Apart we are manipulated but together we are strong. Together we can change the world and how society thinks. We are society- and believing in sisterhood women are a strong force again any form of hatred. We are not just humans who identify as women- we have all faced our own “demons” growing inside us by the insecurities other people feed us, we have all been through the pain of feeling inferior and not enough. We have all been subjected to many forms of insults, objectification, manipulation and sexualization and last but not least, misjudge our potentials and diminish our aspirations. Let empathy unite us before we let anything create gaps between us. We are all women. 🔥 💪🏿💪🏾💪🏽💪🏼💪🏻 . . . . . . #sisterhood #postbyme #empoweredwomen #dailypost #posts #quotebyme #empower #empowerment #empowering #empoweringquotes #empoweringwoman #womensupportwomen #womeninspiringwomen #womensupportingwomen #womenempowermentquotes #empowerher #feminism #feminist #intersectionality #intersectional #intersectionalfeminism

Just a little <•~truthbomb~•> tehe. Most of us are more concerned with putting our energy into explaining and defending why our actions aren’t racist, instead of putting our energy into changing our actions so they aren’t racist. A wild idea, but hear me out. Why not listen to people of colour when they tell you something you’re doing or saying is racist and then alter that behaviour so you’re no longer being racist. fifty-two. . 🌱 spring and fall are my favourite. 🍃 . they’re in-between times, where beginnings and renewal are at the forefront of everything. yet with this theme of change, may come underrepresented pressure to morph into something or someone, because pretty filtered content tells us to, or because we are constantly trying to fit into molds designed without our hips, bumpy noses, skin colours, triggers and experiences in mind. . change, fluctuate or stay the same. do as you want and need, because you want and need to. #feelslikereign #springsolstice #firstdayofspring #sunnydreams #newbeginnings #reflection #identity #selfawareness

“Some day, when trees have shed their leaves And against the morning’s white The shivering birds beneath the eaves Have sheltered for the night, We’ll turn our faces southward, love, Toward the summer isle Where bamboos spire the shafted grove And wide-mouthed orchids smile. And we will seek the quiet hill Where towers the cotton tree, And leaps the laughing crystal rill, And works the droning bee. And we will build a cottage there Beside an open glade, With black-ribbed blue-bells blowing near, And ferns that never fade.” #claudemckay #afterthewinter . . . . #bookstagram #nature #pink #green #poetry #poetsofinstagram #poetrycommunity #poema #poesie #poesia #poem #writerscommunity #quoteoftheday #quotes #quotestagram #wordsofwisdom #artistsoninstagram #art #booklover #loveislove #lgbt #🌈 #intersectionality #intersectionalfeminism #photography #peace #love #iloveyou

I have been talking and learning about the male gaze for years, and it wasn’t until I started #eatingdisorderrecovery that I realized how inescapable the male gaze is and how women are constantly objectified. (Also, as a photographer who works in the editorial world aside from Sugar Magazine..MANY of these objectifying photographs are taken by white male photographers.) I had to repost this from @florencegiven because she’s talented and brilliant. Her examples are incredible! Check this all out and swipe for definitions/perfect examples ✨ • “Women have always been expected to conform to the desires, needs and beauty standards for male consumption. Take shaving our legs...the insecurity of visible body hair on women was a capitalist seed planted by male advertisers in 1915, because they realised they could make a fuck load of money selling female razors. They made us insecure, filled a gap in the market...et voila! We’ve been socialised to be disgusted by our own bodies for male consumption and literal profit. • The male gaze is inescapable. The use of the male gaze across all media platforms for years has perpetuated the narrative that our bodies exist for them, and is a contributing factor to why so many women experience sexual assault. Men are literally socialised to believe that our bodies exist for their consumption. It’s time to change the narrative. Dismantling this system benefits EVERYONE!” - @florencegiven ✨ . . . #malegaze #themalegaze #feminism #intersectionalfeminism #feminist #womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #femalegaze #supportwomen #objectifying #informative #strongfemale #futureisfemale #artoftheday #quoteoftheday #quotestoliveby #feministart #womenempoweringwomen #patriarchy #fuckthepatriarchy #toxicmasculinity #effyourbeautystandards #effyourbodystandards #eatingdisorder #edrecovery #recoverywarrior #girlpower #feministquotes

We had a lovely chilled time this week finally finishing off the mosaics the kids have worked so hard at. They really liked the smooshing of grout (with added glitter!) into all the gaps in their pieces and showed a real sense of team work when kindly helping each other to get finished up, sensitively asking what each other needs and how they can help. I introduced the girls to the seminal work “The Dinner Party” by the artist Judy Chicago. A powerhouse piece of Feminist art “The Dinner Party” celebrates many different women’s contributions to history with personalised place settings for 39 individual women adorned with beautiful ceramics, embroideries and sculptures. We shall be using this huge work as inspiration for our final class next week. #mosaic . . . . . . . . . . . . #smartclubartclub #art #kidsart #making #creativepractice #emotionalintelligence #holisticeducation #creativekids #artofinstagram #kidsofinstagram #processart #creativitymatters #invitationtomake #craft #process #feminism #genderequality #intersectionalfeminism #equality #littleartists #littlemakers #littlefeminists #feministkids #artschool #smartschool #make #making

#day787 We must not look the other way as Trump terrorizes immigrants. President Trump is stripping away the legal status of long-time residents with homes, businesses, schools and places of worship in our communities. Will you stand up for immigrants by demanding that Congress pass a clean Dream and Promise Act? - Learn More at wearemoveon.org for ways to take action Whether somebody is a Dreamer protected under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), a recent Salvadoran refugee with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), or a long-time Liberian resident protected by Deferred Enforcement Departure (DED), they are integral parts of our community and they belong here. The average TPS holder has been here for 22 years, and the average DACA recipient came at age 6. These members of our community will be protected if Congress passes The Dream and Promise Act of 2019. This excellent legislation protects beneficiaries of DACA, TPS, and DED and should be passed "clean" — without amendments that fund further militarization of our southern border, separate immigrant families, or otherwise double-down on Trump's heinous human rights violations at the border. A very calm afternoon this week with lots of concentration as we start with the books “We’re All Works of Art” by Mark Spring, a gorgeously illustrated book that helps us see the world and ourselves through the eyes of the works of art on gallery walls. Also “The Monster Zoo” by Amy Sparkes, about a small boys adventure taking charge of the zoo and showing a bunch of crazy sounding monsters who’s boss! We looked a little at the basic shapes we saw in the illustrations of both books and discussed how they related to each other to create the image or monster as a whole. The kids were given a variety of cardboard shapes, both basic and organic and they spent some time arranging them onto a plain blue background. We looked at how all the cardboard cutouts worked together to create our own monsters or maybe people or faces. Some kids layered shapes over each other whilst others jigsawed images together on the blue card. I then offered the kids many kinds of different stickers, washi tape and sticky eyes! They spent some time with the new material prompt and it was really interesting to see their many different uses and approaches when slowly given the materials over time versus all at once. I lastly gave them the paint pens and chalk markers and as they finished off their creations we told each other about the characters we’ve created and what they liked to eat ! . . . . . . . . . . . . #smartclubartclub #art #kidsart #making #creativepractice #emotionalintelligence #holisticeducation #creativekids #artofinstagram #kidsofinstagram #processart #creativitymatters #invitationtomake #craft #process #feminism #genderequality #intersectionalfeminism #equality #littleartists #littlemakers #littlefeminists #feministkids #artschool #smartschool #make #making
