I have an allergy to overbuilt natural spots—you know, paved trails, warning signs, gift shops, golf carts—but every once in a while, somewhere’s worth it in spite of all that. Hanauma Bay was a tiny corner of warm, gentle Pacific Ocean straight from Paradise, and filled with a dizzying number of brilliant reef fish. And, well. All the signs tend to disappear when you put your head in the water.
