The Warner Parks, consisting of Edwin Warner Park and Percy Warner Park, are located in Bellevue, and are fantastic parks to explore. There are tons of trails, picnic spots, playgrounds and wooded areas.
The Edwin Warner Nature Center is full of information about the surrounding wildlife, and there are several activities for kids. There’s also a mud pit play area right next to the nature center where kids can play in the mud. Make sure you bring a change of clothes and a towel if you plan on heading to the mud pit! There are hoses where you can get cleaned up. Also close the nature center is a frog pond, an area to sit and watch the birds fly around bird feeders, and a garden full of veggies and herbs.
Another really fun activity they have for kids in Edwin Warner Park is a story book trail. As your children go on this trail, they get to actually read a book. Pages of the book are posted every so often. This is perfect, because it engages their minds while they are engaging with nature.
If you’re into running, biking or skateboarding, this is definitely a park you want to check out. There are several trails that are flat as well as trails that go up and down the hillsides.
On our hikes, my family and I have seen deer, wild turkeys, hawks, snakes, turtles, frogs, salamanders and all sorts of birds and bugs. My son loves animals, and so this is definitely one of his favorite things to do. I feel so blessed that we live so close to such awesome parks!
